Table, basket….you decide

Table, basket… you decide. I should have known that day I was at Hobby Lobby, that the comment from the girl at the register would have me second guessing my decision as soon as I walked out of the store. And it didn’t help when my husband echoed her thoughts as well when I got home.

You see, I walked in for something specific in mind and walked out with something that potentially could serve two purposes….if I listen to the checkout girl and my husband.
As I handed her my item, she says” what are you going to do with that basket”. I said, what basket, it’s a table. “Oh” she says,” I thought it was a basket, never would have thought it could be a table.” Handed her my coupon and money, and left with my table. Table, basket…you decide.

Get home, got my table all set up and cozy next to the chair, hubby walks in and says “Why are you using that basket for a table”? What, it’s not a basket, it’s a table. He says,” oh it looks like a basket, but I guess you could use it as a table.” More second guessing begins to set. Table, basket…you decide. At this point, I am thinking that I never should have gone to the store that day.

table, basket...you decide
So one day, I am cleaning up the family room and think about that ‘table wanna be basket’ and decide to put the kids stuffed animals in it….just to see.  Besides, no way could the checkout girl and my husband both be right……..

or could they.  Was my table, really a basket? Could it be true. Was I wrong ever since that trip to Hobby Lobby to think it was a table? Table, basket…you decide.

Or was it fooling me for that one split second.

table, basket...you decide
So tell me. Table, basket…you decide.
Oh….the scratches you see, are from the stone floor in the family room when the kids were moving it around when I was using it as a basket and not as a table. I think the blue peeking through is kinda cool since it matches the carpet.

  1. I would have never thought to use it as a basket because I see a table too, but what a great idea! I love things that can serve multiple purposes, the more decorating options the better : )

  2. I think it's a basket but the marble looking top makes it look like a table.
However, if you ever have a moisture problem the metal could rust a ring on your carpet if it is a basket.
What did the reeipt print-out call it?

  3. It looks like a table to me!! What did the tag say? I think the cashier and your hubby are wrong. I love it beside your chair!

  4. Shoot! Sent it before I finished my sentence. Hate when I do that. I know what I will use for your topic and it's already in use. And don't let me forget about this!

  5. Love that you thought outside of the "basket"!! Yes, you get my vote. I need you to come to HL with me. I was just there yesterday for some outdoor/patio things and my mind was a blank. You obviously see things in a different light. 🙂

  7. Love it! I think I'd use it as a table and at some point play with it and use it anywhere! It's adorable!

    Have a fun weekend!

  8. Definitely a table, but how cool that you can use it as a basket if you ever don't need the table. I like the blue scratch marks, too. I've been wanting a similar table in gold.

  9. I have a table very similar to this one. Mine has a mirrored top. Otherwise it looks like yours. So I say table.:-) Found mine at HomeGoods. It sits beside a very traditional chair. I love it! And I love yours too, whichever way you choose to use it.:-)
