Fall Front Porch

If there is one season that seems to agree with my front porch…it’s fall. But don’t tell  winter, spring and summer…. they think their the bomb too.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to begin decorating for fall and sharing my Fall front porch with you today , since the only sight of a fresh pumpkin that I have seen so far is the one that someone got a hold of in my garden…and ate. insert boo-boo face.  We have had this vision in our head for years to have this amazing pumpkin patch in our garden…..  but so far we have grown maybe 3, plus the one in the garden that someone ate. So I am improvising  and going slightly unconventional with my pumpkin selection  in my decor this year or until that amazing pumpkin patch comes to fruition.

I’ve got beautiful pumpkin pillows. I got these last year from here, and love bringing them out. They are indoor/outdoor and are perfect for the front porch bench or inside on the couch.

I’ve got these amazing blue plush pumpkins that I just want to look at all year cause they are so beautiful, but I think that would really confuse the kids even more since they don’t understand why a pumpkin could be blue or any other color besides orange anyways.

I have these cream colored pumpkins that I picked up late last season as a backup if the orange pumpkins didn’t come in on time….they did. Kids were happy. Apparently so are the cats who seem to be playing in the wheat grass. Between the cats and my kids,  I bet the grass doesn’t last another week.

Then there’s these rattan styled pumpkins that I picked up a few years ago that I use all around the house, that I showed you here in last years tour.

And at the 11th hour, I realized that I couldn’t let the kids down with their ‘all pumpkins are orange’ conviction, so I ran out to Hobby Lobby and picked up this carve-able one , that I actually plan on doing something with. Again, kids are happy.

Ahh, pumpkins and happy kids…..it’s a beautiful thing.

  1. I really like the blue, it looks warm & it’s not the basic fall colors, although I love those too.
    Very pretty!

  2. Oh Laura…I am so loving this porch will the gorgeous blues!!!…Love that “sofa table” and it’s color….and glad you are always including the kids and their contributions to your decor!!….I am so into keeping the blues for Fall!…Stunning porch Laura!!

  3. Your porch is beautiful. I love the soft blue colors. I have a table similar to your blue one that I’ve been considering painting and yours is so pretty I think I’ll have to go ahead and try. Also, consider growing some different colored pumpkins with your kids. You can get seed through many different seed catalogs and online too. They come in so many different shades from whites, creams, greens, blues, pinks, even stripes. The best part is when you cut them open the flesh is still that bright pumpkin orange. It’s really fun for kids.

  4. Is this your front porch? I thought your wicker chairs were white. Did you paint them brown?

  5. Oh Laura, I am luving the pops of blue. It’s so not the norm old school Fall colour and I luv the surprise aspect of it!!
    The sofa table!!! Dreamy.

  6. You are so cute…you have a really funny, engaging way of writing your posts. Your porch looks gorgeous. I have a big porch at the lake, but sadly we are still doing a major overhaul there. My porch here in the city is your typical walk up. Always a challenge.

I love the blue/gray/green pumpkins, I mix them in with a few orange to keep it all kosher. I used to hate all the orang colors as all since my inside décor is very neutral, but now I like the sort of attention grabbing effect they have.

So sorry about your pumpkin patch. My sister could grow them like crazy. Check Google, maybe you need some sort of additive to the soil. I went through the same sort of pain the other day…I was waiting to pick THE most perfect tomato from one of my plants and when I found it, it was pretty obvious a squirrel had bitten off a big chunk. Ooooohhhhh…they don’t even like tomatoes!

    Happy Weekend, Laura!

  9. Love your porch Laura. Love your cushions and all the pumpkins especially the velvet one. The light blue colour is inspired. It goes so well with your furniture. You have such flair.

  10. Your porch is always one of my very favorites. I think I have never seen it decked out so beautifully! What an amazing use of blue for fall… who knew it would work and play so nicely with the season! As always, I love stopping by!

  11. Sigh… Your porch is heavenly! I love all the layered touches… They bring charm and interest to an already beautiful space! I wish I could send you some of our blue pumpkins. They grew like wild in our garden and they would be perfect on your porch!!!

  12. Beautiful porch! Love the blue toned pumpkin pillow! Would you please share with me the haint blue color of the ceiling on your porch? I’ve been scouring the www for the perfect blue haint color, and yours Is The One! Thank you!

  13. Oh Laura, I can see myself sitting on your porch… enjoying the soft blues and reclining on those pretty cushions. Perhaps stroking a velvet pumpkin or two (because blue is my favourite colour), but not in a stalker-ish way. No. I just love your porch and would love it exactly as it is, but in my home. Pity I don’t live closer – I could just come sit with you on your porch – lol.

  14. I just painted the tops of my porch steps a similar blue, I will now copy your beautiful ideas to finish it off. Gorgeous porch.

  15. Just ran across and joined your site. Very happy I did, because I love your porch, and the beautiful colors and pieces.
