3 Style Ideas for a French Country Bedroom

I love a pretty guest room, and my sisters French Country inspired room is right up there with some of my favorites.  I want to share 3 style ideas for a french country bedroom that she has incorporated into her space……and she’s not really frenchy.

We had the chance to visit South Florida during the holidays, and this is one of the bedrooms that we typically sleep in. Every time I step inside the room, I feel so relaxed and calm.  From the subdued color palette to the minimal decor, it’s a stylish dreamy retreat with a french flavor.

Headboard

The upholstered twin headboards in wood and linen really help to set a romantic tone in the space. An accent table that was distressed in between the beds is another french country characteristic. Another popular look in a french country space is a beautiful canopy over the bed. This can be something that is mounted to the wall or ceiling using any type of headboard or bed.

Bedding

To get that French Country look, combine several types of fabric on the bed along with a mix of pillows. Look for french country motif with your bedding such as toile, floral or paisley. The mix of white sheets, a taupe quilt , delicate patterned floral shams and a coordinating accent pillow help to bring a cohesive look to the bed, although all were separate pieces. The white voile bed skirt gives off a soft and feminine touch to the overall look.

Special Touches

You can ‘t help but notice the eye catching beautiful french inspired chandelier hanging in the center of the room. In addition to beautiful lighting, add other vintage elements to enhance the space. Here some old prints were framed and hung over an accent table that was distressed for an old look. A vase of white flowers along with guest room essentials like the silver clock help to make it a cozy and charming space.

  5. Would your sister happen to remember the manufacture of the beds? I could then do a search. I have been looking for the perfect headboard for the queen bed in my guest room for seven years. Other than that, it fully decorated.

  6. Love this room! Would love to know more about sham fabric and curtains. I’m looking for something like that for my bedroom.

  7. What’s not to love in that guest room, you name it. Love the voile bed skirts, thought it was gauzy fabric which would also work ,so soft and calming, could I visit your sister with our kitty?
Would love to have a pretty bed skirt on our bed but we have black lab which loves to lay against wall or bed so as you can imagine pretty bed skirts are out. Have bed spread which was too small on top of bed, between mattress and box spring which works for bed skirt. Got some use out of bedspread at least.
Your sister has beautiful decorating style as you do. Those head boards are exquisite.
Was thinking could use some white muslin for a bed skirt, have it velcroed to top edge of box springs. Seeing this room has inspired me. Love curtains with smocking at top, did she make or buy those smocked?
Enuf gushing I guess, great post.
