Amazing Planners for the traditional planner type that need to write everything down.

As much as I enjoy technology for most things in my life, my daily and monthly planner is not one of them. I try really hard to plug things in to my calendar on my phone but…. I fail to keep it consistent with scheduling and jotting down reminders.  So rather then continue to fight a losing battle, I will once again use what has always been the most effective and efficient way for me to stay on top of my schedule.  A good old fashion planner.

Day Planners for scheduling the month

For several years I have actually used two systems that help me keep it together. Well three, if you count sticky notes all over the house. The first is a Day Designer by Blue Sky. Super reasonable, not overly complicated and pretty to look at, open or closed. This was the one I used in 2017 that you can find here.

Calendar Pad for daily notes and reminders

I just ordered this one for 2018. Better late then never. I find that it’s perfect for looking at the entire month and scheduling things out in your calendar. For the ‘in your face’ daily reminders I use a calendar pad. I keep this in my office so I can jot things down real time.

Over sized Wall Calendar

These  Stendig calendars are my favorite wall calendars.  You may have seen one hanging in my kitchen area in the past. Sadly I missed the 2018 ordering period but was able to order a similar version here for a lot less then the Stendigs cost.  The calendar is 36×48 inches and I love how over sized they are. I will hang this on the wall in the kitchen that way everybody in the house know’s what day it is.

    1. I ordered that very same planner from Amazon and love it! I ordered because BLUE & WHITE and STRIPES, but it is very functional and a great price point!!

Love your decorating style (just recently found your blog) and look forward to enjoying more!

  1. We must be twins! I use the same type Blue Sky Planner & love it! I use it to write down reminders about birthdays, appointments, when to pay bills, etc. But then I also enter the birthdays & appointments into my Google calendar as it syncs with my mobile phone & sends me a reminder. :)) Being an organized person, I like to write reminders to myself about tasks I want to do, so I keep those in the tasks section on Google calendar. I also use the same “sticky note” method of writing notes to myself & place them on the bathroom mirror or dash of my SUV. If only I could train my dog to remind me what I need to do each morning. LOL!! In my former life, I worked as a manager with multiple sites for a global company & used the Franklin Planner system for many years. I loved it! But now I work from home & find that I like using planning systems which are a little less structured. My friends call me the “Organizer” but I can almost always give them the details about an event they can’t find. Life’s complicated & busy, so each of us needs to do whatever works to help us keep up! Thanks for all the ideas you provide in your blog. Wishing you all the best for 2018!

    1. Cindy, we must be twins! I too used to use the franklin planner ( for many years) in my career. I worked in telecommunications for 20 years ( my entire professional life until I had kids and ‘retired’) I can remember updating my binder each year with all the daily inserts. Somehow sticky notes seems less complicated then that planner. Happy weekend!

  2. Thanks for the reminder to order my planner😉
But more importantly…where did you get those cute reading glasses?

  3. Like you, I tried using my phone and Mac but found myself ignoring reminders as they popped up. Now I’m back to using a planner and it works perfectly! Happy New Year!

  4. Laura, love the calendar pad. Can’t seem to find it. Can you point me in the right direction? Love your blog!
