Summer’s Over at Duke Manor Farm

Summer’s Over at Duke Manor Farm kids are back to school. What in the world will I do now?

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Our summer vacation is over. The kids went back to school last week and I am still walking around the house looking lost….in silence. Something that I had not experienced for 10 weeks. And as much as I appreciate the calm and quiet around here, I was really sad to send them off last Friday.  Like tears sad. Although you are probably thinking that is way early to go back, my kids have been out of school since May 17th. (which may also sound really early)

This year the twins are in 5th and my oldest is in 7th grade. Blows my mind.

With the kids back in school that means I am also back to work. This is the first summer since I started blogging 7 years ago that I took the summer off. I feel blessed and fortunate to be able to do that. And although I lost some blog traffic over the last two months, I wouldn’t have traded my time with my kids. It was random, spontaneous fun all summer long.

  1. You have so many large, gorgeous flower beds. How do you keep them so weed-free….do you put down landscape fabric before mulching?

  2. I know how much you cherish your summers with the kids. I can’t believe how old they are now. Time does fly. The boys are so handsome and Lily adorable .

Losing blog traffic for your children, a no brainer.

  3. Enjoying your family is the most important thing, a lot of people are on vacation so I think traffic is down all over. So look forward to maybe fall coming soon and some much needed cooler temps. Love your pool and I am sure the kids enjoyed it every single day and still will for after school swims for a while.

  4. Wow it sure does seem early to be back to school. But you are right about getting out in May. Here in New England we still have until the end of August for summer vacation. So happy to hear you spent time to enjoy your children!!! Time goes by to ooooooooohoòoooooooh quickly and you can not get it back. Fantastic choice.

  5. I know you enjoyed time with the kids and family this summer. I liked when school started after Labor Day which I think they still do up north.
