Rustic Holiday Table Idea

Sadly me and fancy don’t do well together. As hard as I try, I always feel like the awkward school girl. Stumbling in my too high of a heel at a party, when I really should have been wearing my flip flops or my converse sneakers all along. So today I am sharing a rustic holiday table idea that even the fancy gals would like.

I love the look of a fancy table settings. But I always want the look of my table to lean on the side of pretty with a casual approach. So I set this rustic holiday table with a lunch in mind with a few of my girl pals sitting around it.

First I hijacked the red and black blanket from the family room and used it as a table cloth. The blanket actually helped to inspire the look and color of the table theme.

Next, I layered on some beautiful Bormioli Rocco  white plates and bowls and sandwiched in black bandannas as  napkins. The plate and bowl have a slanted edge which makes them fun and unique.

I placed some red serving bottles that I will use for water, with red glasses along with some pretty wine glasses (just in case) at each setting.

And to really personalize each setting, I attached name tags to an ornament that each of my friends can take home and place on their trees. I got the ornaments at a local shop.

I’d say that it’s going to be a really great lunch and it will be even better if you use the same Rustic Holiday Table Idea for your breakfast, lunch or dinner.

  2. I love sitting around the table chatting and laughing with everyone….dirty dishes can wait. Love your tablescape! I'd much rather that than something fancy as well.

  3. Love the anticipation, when the candles are lit, the house is (mostly) clean, and food is prepped, and I can grab a glass of wine, waiting for the fun and laughter to begin…

  4. I love the plaid. You would have liked the table I set for the dessert portion of a fancy progressive dinner/fundraiser in my neighborhood last year. Everyone else used their silver and china along with the best linens. I pulled out the flannel plaids, wooden clip-on ice skates, vintage photos, etc. It was so cute and everyone loved it.

  5. Where should I sit? All looks awesome … love that you added a blanket as your tablecloth! By the way, you and fancy "do" do well together! Now, hurry up and show us your new, incredible ceiling, please! Happy Holidays, friend.

  6. The best part of hosting any party is watching all the guests interact with each other, sharing great moments and knowing that your touches had a role in bringing all the smiles out! I am always pleased that my efforts helped to make each guest feel comfortable and enjoy the event. The next day my face "hurts" from having smiled the entire time!

  8. My favorite part of hosting is the getting together of friends and family, and enjoying each others company, reminiscing, and knowing they appreciate my hand in the making of more special memories together…

  9. I think my favorite part is the coming together with the people I feel comfortable with- with good that nourishes the soul and body- and the fact that a beautiful table to share with them would be an added bonus. For when we eat— it is that sense of community and communion.

  10. My favorite part of hosting a get together is watching relationships being built and listening to conversations. As moms, we often don't get to take those opportunities, so when I can provide that for others it makes me happy!

  11. Your table is gorgeous…from the wonderful blanket you used as a tablecloth to those fabulous dishes and glassware….what a great giveaway…loved the ornament name tags, but just one problem…my name is missing!!!….

  13. I host Our Ladies of Harley (LOH) for our Christmas get together. I love decorating the house and I put up an extensive Department 56 Village every year. The gals really seem to love it.

  14. You've definitely created a casual with a touch of pretty tablescape with so many lovely items and accessories. Terrific idea to have the ornaments as placecard holders and take home gifts. My fave part of hosting a dinner party (after setting the table!) is when the dinner is finished and we are lingering around a candlelit table conversing with friends and family. dining1delight@gmail.com

  15. Beautiful table and so festive. Love sitting around the table with my girlfriends and drinking wine after dinner. I'm hosting a lunch soon and sure wish I had all that you have on your table.

  16. Love the plaid tablecloth and black napkins. My Johnson Brothers Merry Christmas dished would look so pretty with red wine glasses and your white complementary dishes. I would be the envy of my girl pals to have this table at Christmas. Thanks for sharing. jbwaldrop@bellsouth.net

  17. This is totally my style, Laura — casually elegant! Feels like you could sit around the table from lunch until supper chatting it up. 🙂 My favorite part of entertaining is time spent with loved ones. Thanks for the giveaway!

  18. The best part of hosting a party is that I have a husband who loves to cook. While he takes care of planning the menu, buying, and cooking the food, I get to plan the table(s) settings. I have my dining room table set with my Lenox Holly plates, gold chargers, red glasses and salad plates, with gorgeous centerpieces made of red apples, green apples and hydrangeas – I have already decked the halls for Christmas Eve brunch with friends. My kitchen bar is set with my Vietri Old St. Nick plates and mugs, gold chargers, gingham napkins and red berry "bushes" on an old sewing machine drawer. Christmas is definitely about food, but I enjoy pulling out my Christmas dishes the most.

  23. I love hosting parties because it gives me a chance to spend time with family and friends! Life can get so busy sometimes that we can't truly enjoy each other. Get togethers allow for much needed time with each other. Plus I love to bake and cook! So much fun! All the laughter and smiles is just contagious!

  25. I never had a clear vision of what I wanted in my party. I knew I wanted something modern yet classic. The party planner team found the perfect venue. It fit all my requirements moreover the architecture and great food were big plus.
