Everyone needs a little green table…… and a giveaway from Glidden

When it comes to decorating, my family is very easy and cooperative. And up until now, they have left most of the decorating and color choices ……. along with the household cleaning, cooking and grocery shopping, all to me.. Lovely bunch they are.

But when it came time to make some changes to Lily’s room, I wanted more than that. I wanted input. I wanted others to share in the decisions. I wanted her to love the choices that were being made….. after all, it is her room.  So I gave her full decision making rights on her little bedside table. We are starting small and working our way up. I thought a pop of color against the pink in the room, would be perfect complement to the room.

So with the wall paper sample in our hands, we headed to  The Home Depot to check out colors choices. After some mild “coaching” on why purple may not be the best choice, we found ourselves considering a few shades of green from the Glidden® color palette. Glidden makes it really easy to choose colors with their “simplified palette, which is especially important if choosing colors and making these decisions are new to you.  After an ice cream sundae meeting at the Dairy Queen, we had a winner. New Grass Green. See sample here.

So we took the table ( which was a table I had previously used in my living room), which lacked a bit of ‘little girl personality’ and covered it with 2 coats of Glidden Premium Interior latex paint that I purchased at my local Home Depot. She helped with a few strokes and left the rest to mom. This is after one coat of paint.

Immediately, I could see how proud she was of “her” color decision and how that little green table will act as a symbol for years to come, and provide her the confidence to make other decisions in her life.

I only wish every decision was going to be this easy. Speaking of easy and a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card,  leave me a comment below telling me what piece of furniture you have painted…or will paint, that provides inspiration for you.  Be sure to leave your email ( if I don’t have it or you show up as a no reply) so there is a way to notify you if you are the lucky winner!

And don’t forget to visit my Glidden Board on pinterest with my collection of inspiring pieces of painted furniture.  Good luck!

  3. Super cute green table! I'm in the process of painting the vanity and wall cabinet in our powder room and choose a green shade for that project and am loving the fresh energy it brings. Our half-bath is so small and doesn't offer many decor moments for adding personality so I'm being inspired with the pop 'o green in there.

  7. I had a rocker that my husband bought me for my birthday when I was pregnant with our first child. He is now 42. Needless to say, the rocker had seen better days. I decided to paint it black and it gave it a whole new life! I read in someone's blog that every room needs a touch of black and this rocker now gives our family room that perfect touch.

  8. I love the green table. My 6 year old little girl would love it. I am getting ready to paint our fireplace screen. It is currently gold and I want it to be cream to match the antique window on the mantle. Thank you for your beautiful and uplifting blog…it always makes me smile. God bless!

  9. Love that wallpaper! Love that green color! Everything looks so bright and clean! If I had that very same green color, I would paint an old oak table that is not an heirloom, but has been passed between siblings for 40 years. It needs a good pick-me-up and that color would do it! Your daughter sounds cute and fun!

  15. I have painted many pieces over the years. One of my favorites was a second hand dresser that I painted black for my daughter to use in her post grad school apartment. She has it in her married apartment now.
Right now I am thinking of painting a very old table/second hand store table for the back porch. Again…my intention is to paint it black to go with our black rocking chairs.

  16. I love that green table and your little girls room! I am in the process of spray painting my dining room chairs. They were white and I am painting them Jade, which is about the color of Jadeite dishes. They look so much better!

  17. Love that table Laura, so very pretty with the green you used against the pinks. Makes other things show up and be happy looking. Great choice of color.
The apple green I 've been using (spray paint from True Value Premium Apple Green) is very similar to your color. I've used it on several picture frames and going to paint my chif-a-robe in master that color with little bit of coral. Coral will be on walls, want room to be peaceful and light, not too glaring with colors. Have another little chest which will get some of the green also but lighter than chif-a-robe, will use more white on little chest. Can hardly wait to start. Our room is a good size with high ceilings so want it to be soft and calm for sleeping. But first I have to sand and we have to repair split sides of chif-a-robe. What I'll do with clothes etc in chif-a-robe while it's being painted I have no idea at this point. Ah just thought, have a few train cases so they'll sub in for while. Been thinking of painting them also for storage in our room. Our walk in closet is barely walk in so not much room for storage except shelf around top of closet. Think I'll be using parts of vintage tablecloths on train cases also. So many projects, not enough time it seems. You've inspired me to get started on these projects. Happy week
