Spooky Idea for the Entry Way

Beware……Consider yourself warned.
I am doing spooky today…….well my idea of spook anyways.

Truth of the matter is my spookiest moment had nothing to do with ghosts, witches, fake blood or haunted houses. Nope. Not even black spiders with purple sparkly legs, hanging on my black burlap wreath can scare me off.

For me, the moment that made me shake, shudder and wanna cry in fright was……… the monkeys. Yes, you heard me right, the monkeys. Those flying monkeys.

I was probably about 7 or 8 years old and I had watched The Wizard of Oz for the very first time. Those flying monkeys scared the pants off of me….still do to this day.

In fact, I would rather be tangled up in my black web pillow with a crow on my head then encounter those mean little monkeys that helped the evil witch and were so cruel to the scarecrow, lion and tin man.
I guess the only thing that would really comfort me from my ‘flying monkey syndrome’ might be a big bowl full of Reeses and Kit Kats with spider webs draping over the side.

But that’s unless little hands with no bodies eat them all first!

So tell me, besides my spooky entrance with hands with no bodies reaching for candy, what spooks you most?

Grateful for~
Beautiful weekend….doing nothing!

  1. Your Halloween entry looks awesome, Laura! Those monkeys were and still are scary, but I gotta tell ya – it's the spiders that get to me. There's no way I could touch one of those big hairy SCARY fake spiders! It's hard for me to even look at them. lol

  2. Oh my goodness Laura! You're right those flying monkeys are plain old scary, then and now!

I'm feelin' good with your level of spooky topped with a little creepy. I have to say, it's the bloody zombie thing that gets me every time. I'll take your bowl of sweet trick-or-treats {hand with no human, and all;)} over those scary things any day!
    Happy Haunting my friend,

  3. I love the spooky pillow and spiders. Seems our real spiders are taking over this season. I noticed your font in your header and post title. I love it! Searching for a new one.

  4. Ghosts! And I live in a house that over 100 years old.. and someone died in my kitchen once 80 year ago. I definitely keep the lights on ALL the time! Just in case. 🙂 Love your fun entryway! You did a great job!

  5. Laura, I love your spooky but very chic entryway! Do I see a ghost flying through one of your pictures? I have a sign I put out during Halloween that says: I HAVE FLYING MONKEYS AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE THEM". Ha ha!

  6. Cute Halloween decor! I don't decorate for Halloween anymore since no little ones around. I'm not afraid of the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz…I always thought they were kind of cute, though mean. lol

  7. A friend, her husband, my husband and me took our two kids trick or treating. The neighborhood was really nice and one person even had a fake freddie kruger, or so we thought until he got up and started coming toward us. left the kids there, the husbands were in the car and we were running down the street.
I had an issue with monkey nightmares. It was always 3 monkeys and a ticking clock. I would wake up scared to death. The only thing that anyone could come up with was that there was a commericial out about that time that had monkeys on it and it was about running out of time.

  8. You know I am a huge fan of everything you do, this looks great. Truth be told I am 48 and the Wizard of Oz still freaks me out and it is those monkeys!!! They really, really creep me out!!, LOL

  9. My husband is afraid of the flying monkeys too! My girls think that is hilarious. They are super creepy. Your Halloween decor is..well can I say beautiful…no BOO-tiful! Nice job Laura!! Come visit me tomorrow!!

  10. Bring on the witches, spiders, ghouls and ghosts but keep those evil flying monkeys away from me 🙂 Love your spooky vignette!
