Duke Manor Farm Holiday Home 2021

Welcome to Duke Manor Farm Holiday Home 2021

Happy Holidays! I am so thrilled that you are here at Duke Manor Farm. If this is your first time here you can catch up on Duke Manor Farm here. This is my 9th year participating in the Holiday Housewalk hosted by Jennifer Rizzo and it’s my favorite tour of the year.  All through the week, 5- 7 bloggers each day will share their festive holiday homes. There is truly something for everyone when it comes to holiday inspiration because every house is just so magical. You can start the tour from the beginning  here

If you are visiting from Jen at City Farmhouse, it’s a pleasure to have you here at Duke Manor Farm. If you haven’t been to City Farmhouse you will want to see her beautiful holiday home here.

Although I tend to lean on the side of minimal but cozy when it comes to my holiday decor, I wanted to make sure that most of the rooms in the house said “it’s the most wonderful time of the year” when you walked in. Years ago I went on a major purge of holiday decorations that were just taking up space. Since then, I find myself using what I have and being more creative with color choices each year. This year is no different. You will see pops of color in the den, a red, blue and gold tree in the Living Room, and my cooper, navy, and cream tree in the Dining and Kitchen area.

I hope you will enjoy the tour and be inspired by something you see for your own holiday home this season.

Living Room

Since this room had been empty for so long, I was excited to sprinkle some holiday cheer in this space. Although the room is not entirely finished (waiting on a light and the wall going down the stairs will get board and batten similar to the adjacent wall and a gallery wall)  it sure makes me happy to walk into this room. I did buy a new tree this year for this room and placed ornaments that I had in gold, red, and blue. This is the 7.5 foot tree. I then randomly added navy blue ribbon on the branches instead of full-on ribbon weaving since this tree is more sparse than full. Under the tree, I got this gift wrap and used the navy ribbon. To balance out the color in the room I used red and blue accessories (pillows, berries and the garland).

Fun fact: This is the first year that the gifts under the trees are all real.  My kids don’t know that though and think they are fake! I actually have all of my holiday shopping finished. Oh, what a beautiful feeling.

Dining Room/Kitchen

My vision for this area was a more natural and organic vibe using cooper and navy colors. Since this is a functioning space, I wanted to make sure there was no fuss in the decor and that we wouldn’t need to move things out of the way when we were sitting down to eat. I picked up a few new things for this room, some copper-colored ribbon ,  cream-colored ornaments, and some furry white owls that I added to the tree. By using navy on this tree I took advantage of the same wrapping paper that I did in the Living room for the ‘real’ gifts….shhhh, don’t tell my kids. Of course I had to paint something this season, so I ended up spray painting a red star I had bronze for the top of the tree.

Family Room

Since the family room is next door to the Dining Room, I wanted this space to mirror the same color scheme and feel. Our favorite hang-out in the house got a few small trees and pinecones to give it that cozy but outdoorsy vibe. Call me lazy, but other than the ‘Stay Cozy‘ pillow that I got last year, these are all the same pillows and throws that were on the couch during the Fall season. #ifitaintbrokedon’tmesswithit

Fun fact: This room was actually designed as a screen porch when we were building our home. My current Dining Room (above) was the family room for a few years.  At the last minute, we loved the room so much and decided to close it in and use it as our family room.

Lily’s Room

It’s been 1 1/2 years since we made over Lily’s pink bedroom into this cool, beachy-like space. Check out the full reveal here. This year she mentioned that she wanted to hang lights on her shelves and have a tree, so it was fun helping her pull it together. The little tree in her room was a tree that I bought 20 ish years ago when we were living in the guest house while our home was being built. I knew there was a reason I didn’t toss it during the great purge a few years ago. It’s just perfect in her room. I am hoping the little tree can stand for a few more years. I wonder how long faux trees last anyways?

Den

Most things in my house are on constant rotation, including Christmas ornaments. These are the same fun colors I did on the main tree last year…and loved. Click here to see my Pops of Color tour. I have a slew of nutcrackers that needed a place to hang out this season, so they followed along as well.  Since this space is my kid’s den area, I wanted the room to feel playful and fun. The explosion of color on the tree does just that. This is the smaller version of the tree in my Living Room (6.5 foot Aspen Fir). I just love these trees. They look like something I could have cut down on the property…if only we grew Aspen Firs around here.

Peek of other spaces

In the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sharing some of our outdoor spaces decorated for the holidays.

From my family to yours, have a wonderful holiday season!

Next up on the Holiday Housewalk is Chelsea from Making Home Base. It seems like we both are loving cooper and blue trees this year! 🙂 This is her first year on the housewalk, so be sure to give her a big ole welcome when you stop by.
