How to make Peach Cobbler using fresh peaches

As you know, we love our peaches here at Duke Manor Farm. This season we got a ton of peaches from our two peach trees on the property…almost two many. Years ago, a friend gifted me two tiny trees that have grown into monsters. It’s been fun trying to find ways to enjoy the peaches instead of just eating them fresh off the tree. This season we canned them and made fried peaches for the first time….better late than never. Fried peaches will definitely spoil you.

Something else that will spoil you is using fresh peaches in a peach cobbler. I have made cobbler with southern biscuit mix several times but never used fresh peaches. Just.you.wait!

HOW TO MAKE PEACH COBBLER USING FRESH PEACHES:

Ingredients needed

  • 1/2 cup of butter (1 stick)
  • 1 cup of Southern biscuit mix
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 medium-sized jar of peaches (fresh or canned)
  • vanilla ice cream (optional)

How to make peach cobbler

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Melt one stick of butter in a 9X9 baking pan. Set aside. 
  3. In a large bowl whisk together the biscuit mix, sugar, and salt.
  4. Add your milk to the dry ingredients.
  5. Pour the mixture on top of the melted butter. DO NOT MIX
  6. Place peach slices on top of your cobbler mixture. If you are using canned peaches, drain the juice out before you place it on your cobbler.
  7. Bake for 25 mins

Yes, just strain the liquid in the can before placing peaches on your cobbler.

What other fruit can you use instead of peaches?

Sliced apples and blueberries make great substitutions and taste just as good!

Try to serve the cobbler warm. It tastes just as yummy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Can I freeze the cobbler?

Yes, just wrap it up nice and tight in aluminum foil and store it in the freezer for up to six months. We usually eat ours before it gets to this point.
