Style Showcase: Simple Summer Ideas for the Home
Simple summer ideas for the home are especially welcome during these final weeks of the season. While fall may be just around the corner, I’m not quite ready to rush summer out the door….unless it doesn’t cool down soon.
This week’s Style Showcase is filled with easy inspiration for enjoying what’s left of the season. We’re sharing a beautiful summer table, a clever no-sew pillow project, practical ways to create shade outdoors, a delicious fresh-fruit breakfast idea, and a backyard update that makes outdoor living even more comfortable.
Simple Summer Ideas for the Home
Whether you want to make a small decorating change or simply enjoy your outdoor spaces a little longer, these ideas prove that you don’t need a major project to make home feel special.
Simple Summer Table Setting | Town & Country Living
Jennifer shares a beautiful simple summer table setting inspired by the colors and textures of nature. Green melamine plates, woven chargers, natural textures, branches, ferns, and pretty green and blue vessels create a table that feels casual enough for summer while still looking pulled together.

DIY No-Sew Pillow Using Cloth Napkins | Zevy Joy
Here’s a fun one if you want to refresh your decor without spending much money. Annie turns cloth napkins into decorative pillows using fabric glue—no sewing machine required.
The project uses two cloth napkins, fabric glue, and a pillow insert or stuffing. Annie even shares how she used 18-inch napkins with a 20-inch insert to create a fuller-looking pillow.

Budget-Friendly Shade Options for the Hot Sun | Duke Manor Farm
If you live in the South, you know the August sun isn’t messing around!
Here at Duke Manor Farm, umbrellas have been one of my favorite budget-friendly ways to create shade around the pool. Before investing in a permanent outdoor structure, umbrellas offered an easy and much more affordable way to make our pool area comfortable during those hot Georgia summer days.

Fresh Fruit and Ricotta Tartines | Finding Silver Pennies
Danielle is serving up a breakfast or brunch idea that looks beautiful but is surprisingly simple.
Her fresh fruit and ricotta tartines start with toasted sourdough and creamy ricotta, then add fresh seasonal fruit, honey, lemon zest, herbs or microgreens, and a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic.

This would be such a pretty late-summer breakfast when peaches, nectarines, strawberries, and other fresh fruit are still easy to find. Even better, the recipe takes just minutes to put together.

Backyard Updates + A Retractable Awning | Southern Hospitality
Rhoda takes us into her beautiful backyard and shares one of her latest additions—a remote-controlled retractable awning over the sectional seating area.
The 12-by-10-foot awning gives the seating area plenty of shade but can be retracted when it’s not needed. It’s a great example of adding function to an outdoor living area without giving up the open-air feeling.

Her backyard is also full of inspiration, from planters and hydrangeas to outdoor rugs, lighting, and comfortable seating.

Enjoying the Last Weeks of Summer
As we move closer to fall, I’m trying to enjoy these last weeks of summer rather than rush into the next season…..although it is 100 degrees out as I write this post. But maybe that means setting a pretty table, tackling a quick DIY, or simply finding a shady spot outside to sit for a while.
Sometimes it’s those small, simple things that make home feel the best.
Be sure to visit my Style Showcase friends for all of this week’s inspiration, and I’ll see you back here soon!
