4 essentials every guest bath needs

I first showed you our guest house, a few years back here.  We love that little place and it has served us and our guests very well, but it did need a small makeover. So about a year ago I started to make some changes to update the place up a bit.

Bad news, I haven’t quite finished. The good news, I did get the guest bath done.

Here’s the guest bath before the changes.

And here’s the after.

It’s amazing what a coat of bright white paint can do for a space.

So let’s talk about some of those extra touches. The 4 essentials that every guest bath should have.

4 Essentials Every Guest Bath Needs

Fresh Towels

I think the most important of all, are fresh, fluffy bath towels and wash cloths. I stocked the bathroom with plenty of towels, opting for white since they are easier to clean and bleach if necessary.

Candles

Another essential to make your guests feel extra special is adding some candles, bath lotions and body wash on a pretty tray. I like to use a scent that will help with Sleep, since it’s not always easy to get a good nights sleep when you are not in your own bed. When it comes to candles, I like to use pillars that are flameless, besides flameless candles are easy to use, safer and no matches required.

Items to make them feel special

I  always try provide my guests the things  that make them feel at home. A pair of comfy slippers is a must. I placed them on this nesting table.  The extra space on the table is perfect for whatever you or your guests want to put on it.

bath

I wanted to add a bit of color to this all white bathroom without it looking to stark and boring, so I got this pretty shower curtain. The shower curtain adds the perfect cottage feel to the guest house. It’s important to give your guests something cozy to step on when they are in the bath, so I added these navy bath rugs. They are easy to clean and so super soft.

  12. When my grandchildren were babies I would always throw their bath towels in the dryer to warm them and as soon as they got out of the tub I would wrap them up in these towels. They loved it and to this day they still ask for warm towels after bathing. They are now seven and nine years old. It is not only how a space looks but how you make your guests feel. Love your pops of blue and flowers are always a wonderful way to welcome guests. Awesome job on your bath.

  18. Love the bathroom and the new shower curtain is gorgeous!! Whenever we’re going to have guest I try to find out what their favorite foods are as well as foods they dislike and plan meals (and snacks) accordingly. I also keep stacks of fresh clean towels in the guest bedroom so they don’t have to look for them in the linen closet. When my brother visits I always put out a new candle in the guest bedroom for him as he loves candles. Our wifi information is readily available in the guest bedroom as well. And always, always, always fresh, clean bedding. 🙂

  19. Your guest bathroom redo looks fabulous! I would love to go to Kohl’s to get a start on re-doing my guest bathroom.

  20. Now, that is a welcoming bath! Love the slippers — where did you find those? Navy accents are so nice against a crisp white background. Well done.

  21. Oh how beautiful Laura…yes, it is amazing what some linens and accessories can do for a wonderful spa like feel in a bathroom. Kohl’s has such an amazing selection of linens for the bath and table….I had to laugh at the slippers as I always save the slippers that the higher end hotels give you and take them home to put in my guest room….:) Great giveaway…off to enter!!!

  22. I love your guest bathroom! I’m really into the blue and gray accents right now. In fact, I recently purchased a new shower curtain in those colors…I love it! I love having guests and I really try to make them feel cozy and comfortable when they visit. I’m a lover of flowers and candles as well as comfy blankets. I can never get enough of those things. As far as my guest bedroom and bath go, I always keep extra toiletries, pretty towels, candles, lotions and flowers close by.

I hate to say this but I live minutes from Kohl’s and go there way too often!! I love that store!! Thanks for sharing all of your great ideas and pictures. Keep them coming!

  34. I have a container in the bathroom with anything they might need (soap, shampoo/conditioner, shower cap, toothpaste/brush, razor, cotton balls/q-tips, etc.). In the guest room I place a basket with some books, magazines, a notepad & pen, wi-fi password, etc.

    Your bathroom looks great!

  35. I live in a one bedroom apartment so I never have overnight guests. When I have an afternoon guest or a dinner guest, I always make sure to have lots of good things for them to eat.

  36. Something I like to leave in our guest room is a decorative bottle with the fragrance reeds that stick out of the top, for a light fragrance. Guest rooms tend to smell stale if not used often, and I find the fragrance sticks manage the staleness.

  37. I put fresh sheets on the guest bed, fresh towels in the bathroom, fill the compact refrigerator with their favorite beverages, leave a tablet in their room to access the internet and have a TV in the guest bedroom so they can watch their favorite shows.

The white towels were such a perfect choice, but I love the pop of color of those pretty blue ones too. Oh and that gorgeous shower curtain, love that! You also found lots of other great things at Kohl’s too. I love their home section in their stores, but didn’t realize Kohl’s had so much wonderful home decor, heading over there now to check it out! Have a great day Laura : )

  42. We love to provide freshly baked cookies and a great smelling scented candle lit in the room.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  43. We stock our guest room with lots of extra blankets, candles, books for reading, etc. and if we know they are coming over ahead of time (which we usually do) i will buy their favorite foods or snacks to keep in the house 🙂

  44. The WiFi password and extra blankets in the room, plenty of TP in the bathroom. It’s amazing how fast it disappears!

  45. Plug in a new air freshener, put an over-the-door hanger on the closet door for their hanging clothes (because our closets are too crammed full for anyone to hang anything else)

  46. I Always Like To Prepare A Special Meal For My Guest’s. Candles, Flowers Are Always Nice Too!

  47. the only guest we have are my Aunt and Uncle so they have towels just for them. merk underscore doug at alliancecom dot net
