Monday Musings – house painting, great deal on trays

Happy Monday. Welcome to a new week and a new month!

In all honesty since the kids have been out of school, everyday seems like a Monday, or Tuesday or whatever day it wants to be. I actually had to ask twice last week what day is was and we have only been out of school one week. At this rate, I am thinking that I might not remember my name in another 10 weeks.

Couple of things going on around here.
If you follow me on Instagram  (if not, you should) you saw that I am getting the house painted in July. Another story for another day, but I will be going lighter and decided to throw some paint in a back corner of the house and live with it for a while to see how I would like a lighter color. I am either going a grey route or a beige route.

My wisteria in the garden is going gang busters. I love this stuff but it can get a bit out of control and requires some regular cutting during the summer.

We have been enjoying the afternoons and evenings outback every chance we can . As you know we are building a pergola which you can see here, and luckily we have this deck to hang out on. Note to self. Summer may not be the best time to start a major project in the backyard.

Went to walmart the other day for something, I can’t remember  what (it’s kinda like the day thing) and picked up the cutest galvanized metal tray’s. Perfect for indoors and outdoors. They were less then $8.00. I am keeping one on the breakfast table with various bottles filled with fresh flowers.

I am going to start my summer blogging schedule….. which simply means enjoying my kids while I can and popping in and out here on the blog.  Didn’t want you to worry or anything, if I was MIA for a few days over the summer or not on my regular blogging schedule.

What’s going on with you? Seen any good summer movies?

I hope you all have an amazing week.

ps. don’t forget to follow me on Instagram here where you can keep up with me daily

  1. Laura, love your galvanized trays. What department did you find them in?

You were smart to put a little paint on the house. Live with it awhile and see how it looks in different light.

I posted yesterday about movies. We've had weeks of rain here in Texas so we've seen several! Come on over and see. 🙂

  2. I remember my beautiful Wisteria that I had in a yard in N. Central Florida…moving from S. Florida I was ecstatic that I had Wisteria in my yard…but discovered how invasive it was…and we actually called it Hysteria…Anxious to see what color you choose…and enjoy your precious ones making memories!!!

  3. I have heard that Wisteria is like that. It's beautiful but can be very invasive. Ivy and bamboo are the same way. Looking forward to seeing your house in its new color. It's always exciting to get your house painted so you get a whole new look! I know what you mean about feeling "off" during the summer as to what day it is or even what time. Seems the school schedule keeps us going the rest of the year. Yesterday, I kept thinking it was Saturday all day!

  4. Love the tray. I need to go shopping! We still have a couple weeks left of school here in NJ. So much to do before then…I have been on a "summer blogging schedule" for a couple months now! Lol…I can't even imagine what I will be like when the kids are home. Enjoy your week!

  5. It's fun to take the decorating outdoors for awhile. I have wisteria all over my front porch at the lake. I have to say I was warned…it's evil!! It wrapped around the power lines! It goes up the porch to the balcony above and getting through it is like going through a jungle! Hurry and start clipping, Laura!

Love the galvanized tray, I'm on a tray kick—the new replacement for baskets!

Enjoy your time off with the kids…they will always remember their summers more than the school months! 🙂

Loving you on IG and thanks for following me.

  6. Great tray Laura. Can't wait to see which color you choose for the house. We did the same at our old house. It's a big job and you have to make sure you can look at it everyday and have no regrets.

Enjoy those kiddos. I have to get moving with Instagram
