Spring Porches at Duke Manor Farm

Spring Porches at Duke Manor Farm

Welcome and happy winter Spring! Isn’t this weather crazy! I think 1/2 of us are in our sweats by the fire and the other 1/2 are sporting our winter white legs in shorts. But regardless what you are wearing, I am glad that you stopped by Duke Manor Farm for this Spring Home event hosted by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life.  Spring is my favorite season so this is always a favorite tour of mine.  To see last years Spring tour click here. And if you are coming over from Kim’s at Tidbits and Twine  I’m glad you popped over. Isn’t her family room just the coziest space! The complete line-up for the week will be at the end of this post.

Spring Porches at Duke Manor Farm

Since I shared some Spring decorating in my family room and mantel earlier this month, I thought it would be fun to take you outside to the front and back porches at Duke Manor Farm. Honestly once April rolls around we spend more time outside then we do inside anyways.  Last year we installed a pool and made some changes to the backyard which basically means we’ll never come in now!

Everything on the porch except for my pillows has to be dog, cat, chicken and goat friendly. Kidding about the goat, we do have one though.  You see, it seems like this is their favorite place to hang as well. Evident from little clay prints on the cushions and bench.

Just go with it

A grouping with a couch that I have had for years, a  wicker chair with a chewed arm ( courtesy of one of the dogs)  and a bench that I have had forever make up my furniture ensemble. Living on a farm….with animals, I gave up a long time ago on having the perfect furniture and spotless cushions out here, and instead of fighting it, I just go with and stick a pretty pillow on it!  Actually this summer we are going to be getting some new furniture for the front porch….it’s time. My goal is to always create a welcoming spot to sit every time you come to visit the property. Speaking of pillows, I just got these from Grandin Road and love the pop of pink it gives to the porch.

No southern porch would be complete with some Boston Ferns. I didn’t want to go all out with spring annuals quite yet, even though it was a struggle not to. So I got a bunch of ferns a few weeks ago to add a bit of green. When it gets chilly at night I just bring the ferns in so they won’t get freeze burn. The ferns will last until fall if I am lucky.

 Screen Porch

My favorite outdoor space this Spring is our Screen porch. We completed this space last June after living here for 15 years ( catch up here) and just love having an area where mammoth sized mosquitos won’t eat us alive. The overall base is neutral so it’s been fun to use different colors for each of the seasons. This year it was inspired by the cute butterfly pillow and the green pillows that I picked up. I had everything else, but did color match the green in the pillows ( Gecko from SW) and painted the wicker stools.
