Small changes that create a big impact in your spring home that require minimal effort

Happy Winter Spring. The weather hasn’t changed much since I last showed you my Spring Porches here. In fact, it’s still too cold to sit out and enjoy so-called Spring.  So today, I am taking you inside to a few spaces that I have freshened up for the Spring season. Small changes that create a big impact in your spring home.

This is my sweet Lily’s room. She loves pink…if you couldn’t tell. Since you saw this room last a few things changed. Nothing too major.  I like to refresh a space by moving furniture. It can give a space a whole new look without costing a dime. Previously her bed was against the wallpaper wall ( from Spoonflower). A little shuffling can do wonders, especially if your hubby agrees to help. I created the gallery wall with a lot of her own drawings so it feels more special to her.

Another quick change is with the bedding. I recently got these watercolor sheets for my bedroom and loved them so much, I got a set in pink for her bedroom too. They are totally reasonable and are so soft.  I love how they add that extra pop against her all mostly white bedding and walls.

The furniture was a total score and a piece that I transformed a few years ago.  You can see the big brown beast before I prettied her all up.

Master Bedroom

The next space that I freshened up for Spring was our master bedroom. This room got the furniture shuffle too….. that really is a thing in our house. You can see the previous configuration here.

As much as I love this bed ( it was the first thing my hubby and I bought in our marriage) I am trying to find ways to mix up the traditional statement that it makes. Other than the new blue watercolor sheets and breaking our backs moving this super heavy bed, I picked up 2 brass mirrors for either side of the bed.

When we shuffled things around we also moved the TV so that we can watch it while we are in bed. It use to be on the wall leading into the bathroom  (see arrow in pic below) and you basically had to twist your head to see it. I don’t know why I bother with a TV anyways. The minute my head hits the pillow I’m out.

I am still trying to figure out the positioning of the pictures around the TV as well as hiding that dreaded black cord. Eventually, the walls will undergo a color change as well when I get my mojo in gear. The walls are no problem to paint since it’s mostly windows, it’s the ceiling I dread.

For now, I’m going to enjoy the Spring season ….outdoors, when it warms up. To see more of my spring spaces click here for my screen porch,  family room, mantel.

  1. Your daughter’s room is just darling. I love all that pink. Yes, small changes can make a big difference when transitioning to the next season. I am hoping your weather keeps getting nicer. It’s raining here today and not feeling very spring-like… Enjoy the rest of your week, Laura.

  2. Laura, better watch out Lilly is talented. She may try and highjack your blog the older she gets😉. Wallpaper would be pretty behind your bed. Beautiful furniture. What if you did a paint treatment to the bed? Don’t get angry😣at the suggestion.

Lilly’s room is still one of the prettiest rooms. She can grow so much with the room

  3. Beautiful bedrooms, Laura! I love the watercolour sheets and your blue and white is gorgeous. Your daughter’s room is so fun with all that pink! Makes me wish I had a little girl to decorate for:) So glad you could be part of this fun tour series!

  4. Your home is always so beautiful right down to every last detail! I adore Lily’s room and love that you included her artwork in her gallery wall! XOXO

  5. Hello Laura, I LOVE how your daughter’s bedroom turned out! It’s really pretty and fun! When my daughter was young, we had the best time redoing her room every few years. When she was 18, she in turn learned how to paint and redid her bedroom. Always fun to watch our kids grow!!!

What about putting up those moulding rectangles, like French trumeau? Where the mouldings emphasize whatever you place inside them. You could have a large, wide rectangle over your bed, then narrower ones on the side for your mirrors. It would give your bedroom a lovely French look.

    Just a fun thought,
    Hugs,
    Barb 🙂
