This week, I’m sharing how I restored our hardwood floors without sanding (yes, it’s possible!), highlights from a peaceful trip to Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains, and—as always—the latest animal drama that keeps things interesting around here.

In the Mountains

We took a little break and headed to Cades Cove last week—and y’all, if you’ve never driven or rode your bike (that’s what I did) on that 11 mile loop, add it to your list. We spotted deer, wild turkeys, and even a black bear! There’s nothing like the Smoky Mountains to reset your soul and disconnect for the most part…especially cause there is no cell coverage. I will share more about Cades Cove next week… and how many black bears I spotted.

Around Duke Manor Farm

I couldn’t figure out why our egg production was a bit low the last week. I blamed it on the heat. Well…..we found two black snakes in the feed shed and one had egg in mouth. I have seen more snakes this summer then any other that I can remember.

I just finished watching the latest season of Tour de France. It was excellent, even if you are not a cyclist.

Did you take advantage of Prime Days? I bought a few things like boots for hubby, new washable beds for the dogs and green powder that I add to my smoothie each day. So if you need some work boots, have dogs and trying to stay healthy, you should check them all out.

Senior season has has begun! As you know I will have two seniors this year in high school. Lily had her senior (cap and gown) picture taken the other day. Lets say I am starting to feel the wave of emotions. If you have been here, what did you do extra during senior year to capture these moments/memories for your senior?

DIY Sneak Peek

Next week, I’ll be sharing a little refresh I am doing to the boys bathroom. I only added new trim, paint and lighting but it has made such a huge difference to update the space. Here’s a sneak peek. I wanted the same look (bead board and color) and feel that they have their bedrooms. Earlier this year I redid Jacobs bedroom. You can see the total bedroom makeover here.
