Banana Cream Delight an Easy Summer Dessert

In the spirit of keeping everything light and easy this summer I wanted to share a dessert that fits that criteria. I should mention that it’s really good as well. I’m calling it Easy Banana Cream Delight. During the summer months, anything with whip cream and fruit is a ‘go-to’ dessert around here.

The lighter and fluffier the better during the hot summer months.

Is it just me, but I feel like I get a free pass whenever I make a dessert out of fruit. I tell myself  (without the guilt of course), that a second serving is excellent since it is loaded with bananas. This is totally rational, right?

What you need

This will fill a medium-size bowl and 3 dessert bowls:

Pound Cake- I use whatever is in the bakery section

Two packs of Banana or vanilla instant pudding . Using two packs makes it extra thick

Low-fat whip topping- 8 0z. You can use the real stuff too

Low-fat milk- you can use whole milk as well

2 bananas

1 med size serving bowl or dessert bowls

Instructions

  1.  cut little pieces of the pound cake and place them on the bottom of the bowl 3/4 to 1/2 way up
  2. In a separate bowl prepare your pudding mixture according to the directions on the package. Cut up your bananas and mix them into the pudding mixture.
  3. Add 1/2 of your whip topping and mix that into your pudding mixture. You will save the other 1/2 for the topping or dollops on your finished desserts
  4. Stir completely
  5. Place the pudding mixture on top of the pound cake pieces filling right below the rim of the bowl
  6. spread the remaining whip topping on the entire mix in the bowl or place a dollop in each dessert bowl
  7. Serve or refrigerate till ready to eat

  2. oh, yum! bananas and pound cake! Just looks like summer.
I found a great tip from Publix years back….when making a box of instant pudding, substitute a scant 1/4 cup sour cream, lite is fine, for the same amount of milk and then add the whipped topping. We think it takes away the “instant pudding” taste. Wouldnt make my nanner puddin without it!

  3. Trying this out for sure. Was laughing, I say the same about fruit in dessert. Besides, life is too short and that’s why I work out 7 days a week

  4. No need to publish, but I was a little confused when I read this. Looking for something to do with my extra bananas other than muffins, thought this looked interesting so was reading it over. Did you by chance mean “guilt free” instead of “quilt free”? Thought it was funny as I just finished a baby quilt and looking for my next project, and noticed I had an abundance of bananas that I need to use up so was looking for something tasty. What a coincidence on the possible play on words!
