Create Gold candle holders in an instant

Welcome to this month’s Thrifty Style. I am excited to share a super easy and fast way to create gold candle holders in an instant.  All of the links to more thrifty projects and ideas will be at the bottom of this post.

If you have been around for the holidays at Duke Manor Farm you may have seen my holiday table a couple of years ago covered in Roses and candles….lots of them. It seems that Hobby Lobby enticed me with a sale and a bought just a few of them…well more like 10ish or so.  Click here to see more of this room.

Use a little spray paint to get the look you want

Fast forward to this past Fall where you may have seen a bunch of gold candlesticks on my mantel. I wanted gold accents and candlesticks but did not want to invest in new holders….so I painted them gold.  Got the look I wanted and only needed to spend $4.79 for a can of metallic gold spray paint. If you are still in the Fall mode and in denial that Christmas is just weeks away, you can click here to see my Fall table.

Tips when painting glass

Here’s a couple of tips that I used when painting the candle holders.

The most important thing to do is to clean them with a good household cleaner. Get any dust or wax off so your paint can adhere well.

Spray a few light coats on your candle holders instead of heavy coats. This will minimize any drips and give a nice consistent finish. Let them dry in between coats.

Here’s what the candlesticks looked before I painted them.

And here’s how i used them on my Christmas dinner table that you may have seen during my Holiday Home Tour here.  I bought the taller candlestick holders that came gold last year from here. Here’s a link to something similar.

I also used them in a floral arrangement for our breakfast area. I will be sharing this idea later the week, so come back for that.

Easy Centerpiece Ideas for your holiday table

If spray painting glass candle holders frightens you here’s the candle holders I got….without the paint. So if you are looking to change up something in your holiday decor this season, look no further then a can of spray paint.
