Spring Porch…before the pollen

Spring Porch…before the pollen

I hope you all are enjoying the first week of spring. Here in North Georgia we have had spring like signs for few weeks now. We actually had the lawn cut last week for the first time since last fall. Although I would like to think Spring temps are here to stay, I am trying not to go all gang busters with porch plants and flowers . If the weather does get chilly, I need to quickly relocate them inside.  I did pick up a few Boston ferns , some petunias and new wreaths for the doors to get things going.

Comfortable Seating

After years of wanting rockers for the porch, my hubby got his way when I picked up a few at Lowes last month. I have been looking at them for a while and for the price and the quality these were a great buy. My porch is rather big so I am thinking I may pick up one or two more and hope that it won’t look like the outside of  a Cracker Barrel.  On the other side of the porch I kept the bench that I got last year. Love how it fills the space….and is pet friendly since my critters make themselves right at home.

I brought out the pillows that I got here for my pool chairs last year. I love the soft blue against the wood tones. The console table was on the back deck and I painted it in the same blue. It is a good filler for this space and breaks up all the rockers. For now I will use it for plants, and cute mossy bunnies but it will be useful when we are out here entertaining to put things on. The white side tables were also from the pool area.

Give old planters a good spring cleaning this season

You can’t tell in these pictures but I cleaned off some planters and gave them a couple coats of the blue color as well.  The color was left over from when I painted the den and is called Samovar Silver from SW. When the weather warms up I will refresh a few more planters by painting them instead of buying new. As long as the paint you are using is a satin or semi-gloss finish and not exposed to the weather ( meaning in a covered area) the paint should adhere just fine. Don’t forget to clean your planter really good before applying the paint.

Spring Porch...before the pollen

Anxious to get some wreaths up before my mom and sister showed up last weekend, I picked these pretty but simple one’s up from Home Goods. In all honesty, I could have easily made these or something similar but time got the best of me….and my wallet I suppose. It bugs me to spend money on things that I can make or do myself.

Spring Porch...before the pollen

For now, I am going to enjoy the porch, the bunnies, rockers and wreaths before the heavy coats of pollen show up and turns everything yellow.

I hope you all enjoy the Spring Season. Click here to see my Spring Tour that I shared earlier this week.

  1. I love, love, love your porch, just so pretty and those rockers are the perfect addition. Your ferns look amazing and so do your pretty flowers. Definitely looks like Spring.

  2. Glad Spring has arrived on your gorgeous porch, Laura! I love your rockers and your little moss bunnies! The wreaths on your front door are so pretty — even if you did buy them this year! I, too, hate to spend money on something that I can easily make! However, sometimes it just seems much easier to go and pick stuff up that’s ready and just waiting for you to take it home! You can always add a few of your personal touches to it! Speaking of Cracker Barrel, we have two of their white rocking chairs on our front porch that faces the lake and we love to sit on them. We brought them home from Texas! We do not have Cracker Barrels here where we are and I sure miss that place! The food is always great — and so is that cute country store that they have! Thanks for sharing your lovely porch with us! Hope you can find lots of time to enjoy it!

  3. Love the porch. I am also in northeast Georgia and my husband just mowed our grass this last week. I am so ready for spring, may have to get out and buy my ferns this week.

  4. Love your front porch, looks so inviting. For Christmas I asked for black rockers and finally after living here for 14 years, I have them. I cannot wait to put them out and start a little decorating. Here in DE it still cool but I’m getting in the Spring decorating mood.
