I had a little fun styling this patriotic mantel and 4th of July table setting with some .99 duct tape (you can read more about the table here). As we get ready to celebrate our nations independence, I try to incorporate some patriotic spirit around the house. I love throwing in red, white and blue into my decor during the summer months particularly around the holiday. It’s fresh, fun and festive.

I took duct tape and outlined some metal stars that I had, after painting them with some white spray paint. Easy. Took 1.5 mins.

Some small flags were used as a banner and secured across the mantel with command strips. Super easy. Took 1 minute.

Some wooden buoys that we have had for years were painted red and white and wrapped in duct tape and draped across the top of the mantel. I put the ‘beach’ sign that I made a couple of years in on the mantel to tie in the summerish vibe. Total time 4 minutes.

Our 4th of July tradition around here is a backyard barbecue with tons of watermelon and messy popsicles. Later in the even we watch a firework display hosted by dad. One of his favorite highlights of the year….kids too.

We top our evening off with smores around our firepit. Talking about our favorite highlights and fireworks of the day, and hoping that the day would not have to end.

  1. I love it, it looks fabulous and not over done. It's the perfect 4th mantel for sure đŸ™‚ Pinning!!

  2. Your home looks so festive all done up in red white and blue! I think the party at YOUR house sounds great! We will probably cook out and we may go see a fireworks display. We're playing it by ear at the moment. We don't have an annual tradition for that holiday. Sounds like a good idea though.

  3. Nice! not overdone and I like that a lot. (flags hanging from mantel are backwards — field of blue always goes in upper left as you view flag)

  4. How absolutely adorable! I love the idea of the flag banner on your mantle and the beach sign I know you had to make yourself. You are the best designer. I hope you get paid to do so!

  5. Your mantel looks stunning; very stylish and very patriotic. Hope you enjoy the week leading up to the 4th!

If you have a minute to spare I'd be so thrilled if you could pop by and share your post at my weekly Say G'day linky party. It's on now and this would be a fabulous addition!

Best wishes for a lovely week,

  6. I have mantel envy too. I love the metal stars, they are so cute. I was getting ready to redo my mantel for the summer with a beachy look but the Americana look just melts my heart. Maybe I 'll add some patriotic tape to my metal stars and leave them out for a while longer and leave the beachy thing for August. Thanks for the inspiration….. Candy
