Florida Poolside Retreat

Florida Poolside Retreat  that will have anybody wanting to sit down and relax…and never leave!

One of the benefits  (although there are many) of hanging out in Florida, is getting to alternate between sitting on the beach or sitting poolside.  On one of those poolside days, this is where you found me on a recent visit to South Florida. Not too shabby.

How fabulous are these double chaise lounge chairs! The outdoor pillows are from Front Gate. Planters are from Lowe’s. Umbrella from here.

If you have been following the blog or on my instagram stories over the last few years, you have seen this pool area that belongs to my sister.  Isn’t it fabulous? Resort style amenities ….at no charge.

Before the work that was done

Recently the pool area had some work done primarily due to a slow leak ( not a good problem to have, but they found it) and to refresh the tiles.  My sister was looking to add more color to the pool area and the tiles were are a great way to do that. The pool was installed 17 years ago. Here’s a view  in the exact same spot and seat a few years ago. Noticeably absent is that beautiful cobalt blue edge around the pool and bougainvillea blooms. More on that later .

The after

With the addition of the beautiful blues around the pool area, changes were made to the patio area as well.  This is a view from the seating area on the patio. In Florida patios are often referred to as a veranda or lanai.  Regardless of what you call it, it’s beautiful.

What about that Bougainvillea

Albeit beautiful, if you are familiar with this tree you know that it’s petals can get messy when they drop. After 17 years of being the center of attention, the regular maintenance ( frequent skimming and blowing off the spa area deck) is totally worth the beauty that this tree provides. Besides the tree has survived a few hurricanes and apparently has no intention of leaving this spot. Do you blame it!

I’ll be back with more of this stunning patio…. veranda….lanai soon! What term do you use for your outdoor patio space?
