Happenings around Duke Manor Farm including my recent mishap with my face, how pretty spring looks and our latest project

Hope your day is just as lovely as it is around here in North East Georgia. Spring is definitely showing her stuff around here and we may even have a bit of summer sneaking in throughout the week. The pool is ready for the swim season but still a bit too cool….for me anyways. The nights are still chilly so it’s not warming up so fast. But at least it’s ready when it is.

Ouch that hurt

About a week ago I was cutting a branch off of a tree and it whacked me in the face. Hate when that happens. I was laying low for most of the week for obvious reasons. It has now been 7 days and the only evidence of the tree whack is some bruising under my eye. Nothing that my foundation and concealer can’t hide if needed. By the way, tree branches are no joke ya’ll. It hurt so bad. I’ve linked my foundation  for you because it’s that good….I know.

Happy Birthday to Me

Black eye or not I ushered in my birthday over the weekend. I was totally spoiled by my sweet husband and kids. They had breakfast and dinner all set up on the patio and it was so cute that each of them was designated with something to do. Dad actually surprised me with his birthday celebration skills and covered every special little detail.

Finished up one project….start another

We also celebrated finishing one project and starting another. That’s how we roll around here. The ‘one month’ repaint the ceiling, hang new lights and seal the stone floor only took us close to five months. I will have more pictures of the room and why on earth it took us so long in another post. For now here’s a peek of the space.

And here’s the next project. We are making some small updates to our ‘new’ Dining Room. More about that in another post. For now here’s a progress shot that started the morning of my birthday. Happy birthday to me!

My kids have 3 weeks of school left so I am trying to get done everything I should have finished during the school year. Isn’t that how it always happens.

Good thing you had that visor on when the tree limb reached out and smacked you. The damage to your eye could have been terrible.
