Happenings at Duke Manor Farm Vol 4

Happenings at Duke Manor Farm vol 4 including the latest projects and easy fall decor idea that you will want to know.

Happenings at Duke Manor Farm

Happy Saturday!  What a glorious and beautiful day here at Duke Manor Farm. It is beautiful blue skies and not a cloud around. It rained the ENTIRE week until yesterday afternoon. Normally a bit of rain wouldn’t be so horrible, but when your kids are on fall break and not going anywhere… not so good. In fact, my kids can’t wait to go to school next week.

My latest almost finished project

I thought I was just about done with my breezeway but couldn’t put the paintbrush down. After painting the bottom beadboard in SW Light French Gray I decided to add that same color on top and on the ceiling at 95%, so it’s got just a hint of color. For some reason, this room always looks like the white walls are dirty so I am hoping that this solves that issue. This is the space that connects my garage and main house.  I hope to finish it next week and share a reveal. I just got my favorite Loloi rug in Taupe and Charcoal for this space too.

Here are some pictures of the space over the years. You can see more here.

My latest not finished project

If you follow me here you saw the latest project that I am actively working on. I am giving the guest house a much-needed touch-up. The guest house is where we lived while our house was being built and now serves as a place for family and friends to stay when they visit. Of course, I waited until guests were showing up to start my updates. My inlaws came today for a week so I was not able to finish everything I wanted. This is about as far as I got with the entryway. Shameful I know. When I am finished this space will have a new fresh coat of paint on the walls, trim, stairs, and doors. I am going to replace the ceiling fan with new lighting and I am thinking about jazzing up the stairs with a rug or stencil.

Easy Fall Decor Idea

Besides the ‘need a more recent’ family picture, I added plumes of pampas grass to the mantel for an easy fall decor idea. I just cut the tops of the grass off (we have this planted around the pool) made sure there were no little buggies and put it in this vase. I love this vase and have had it FOREVER and can’t believe PB still sells it. The pretty autumn print is from Collection Prints, and I absolutely love it! By the way, the cut Pampas grass should last for a few years after it’s cut. Make sure to store it properly.

Speaking of the family picture, I have a photographer coming to the house at the end of the month to take some photos. I thought it was time to accept the fact that the kids are no longer toddlers.

Thanks for stopping by the blog and catching up on the latest happenings at Duke Manor Farm. Have a great weekend!

  1. I just had my youngest child’s graduation pictures done and I love them so much, I’m going to ask my family for a photo shoot of all of us for Christmas. The last formal family portrait I have is 16 years old, so I totally get it!
