Monday Morning Catch Up with Duke Manor Farm

Monday Morning Catch Up with Duke Manor Farm including surgery updates, plans for spring decor and sweet memories of my Lily and hubby.

Morning! Not gonna lie, having foot surgery and the recovery associated with it has really thrown a wrench into the month of February.(What??? Get caught up here) I did get my stitches out on Friday, but still not able to drive. I start physical therapy this week which hopefully moves the recovery process along. I’ll keep you posted on how that goes.

How’s your weather?

The sun FINALLY came out this weekend here in Northeast Georgia. Not gonna complain about the rain, since it makes no sense to challenge Mother Nature, but the sunshine was such a nice and welcomed sight. I am not going to let 60 degree temps fool me though, I still think we have more winter weather ahead in the next month of two.  How is your weather? Ready for Spring?

Can you tell the difference?

Our ducks are starting to lay eggs. Although subtle in appearance, there are a few differences between a duck and chicken egg. I’ll share more about that in a upcoming Farm Friday  post. See previous posts here. For now, I shared this post the other day on my instagram stories. Can you tell which 2 are the duck eggs? ( numbering counter clockwise with center egg being #7) Let me know in the comments.

My Spring decor plans

As the weather has warmed up I have been adding a touches of spring around the house. Basically what that means is swapping some pillows around and adding some house plants. My favorite Shibori pillows came out and  I added these blush patterned pillows back into the rotation.  You may remember when I used the blush pillows in different spaces here and here.  ( The pillows from PB are no longer available) I will be sprucing up my outdoors spaces for my spring tour which I will be sharing next month. Until then, you can see last years porches and patios here.

  1. Laura – I LOVE the picture of Lily and her dad! She is so pretty (like her mom). Hope they had a great time. Take care of yourself and follow that PT to the letter! Thank you again for always putting a smile on my face and in my inbox:-)

  2. Hope the PT moves your foot healing along. It has always helped me when I’ve needed it. I am so anxious for spring. It is my favorite time of year, and I will love living in Georgia where it comes earlier. xo Laura

  3. Hi Laura I didn’t want to say anything about foot surgery since I never had it. My SIL told me it’s long healing process and just a complete pain. Everyone is different but following you as long as I have you are not the sitter type. I have been there with my MS and now that things have changed I can’t sit and do nothing.

Lily is so grown now. I remember seeing her going to the dances when so young. time flies.

Still cold here and very windy today.

    1. Cindy- who knew! my husband said next time you have surgery please ask the questions!! Honestly had I not, not sure my doctor would have.Anyhoo, things are getting better each day. went to some physical therapy yesterday to start working the toes. All’s I really want is a pedicure!! 🙂

  4. Hope for fast healing. We live in Illinois not sure we’re ever getting spring 🙄.Going for 1&6. Best from your blog today the picture of your sweet daughter & her handsome dad.

  5. Feel better soon, Laura. I really know how crazy it can get being cooped up after surgery.

Your hubby and daughter look so darn cute together! I know you are so proud.

We had a duck lay her eggs in a big planter pot at the end of our dock one year. I had no idea (in the dark) and scared her away. I just remember the eggs were very large! Oh, she came back. The plant died cuz I couldn’t water it!!

  6. How happy we were to see the sun out Sunday – even with all of the crazy wind! So thankful.

Happy to hear your stitches were removed, Lily looks lovely, and I didn’t count, but the 2 eggs that are longer (more of a true oval) are the duck eggs.

Hope your week is off to a great start! xo

  7. Beautiful sunroom Laura….we originally had our “porch” as a screened one, but now seriously thinking of changing to windows (with screens) thinking about the months of pollen…love your ottoman too…looking for one that size…Lily and Mr. Duke Manor are the cutest….Hoping your therapy gets you back on your feet and hitting the ground running soon!!
