How to change the look of your grout in minutes

Right before my surgery I began some updates in my kids game room. I haven’t made any changes to this space in years, and it was just time. The changes although not huge, will update and transform a once kiddie kingdom into a more suitable space for my teen and pre-teen kiddos. Please hand me a tissue my babies are growing up. My oldest turned 13 a couple weeks ago.

One of the changes on the list is to paint and update the counter area. Because the grout on the top had started to look nasty and discolored, I had considered taking it off and replacing it. That would be ideal if I wanted to spend money and if I was unhappy with the current tile, which I am not… just the dingy grout. So I looked online and found these grout markers. Besides being a game-changer, I paid $9  dollars for two markers!

Basically, the marker instantly colors and covers over dingy or stained grout in minutes. As soon as you apply it to your grout joints it immediately begins to transform the grout. The markers are so easy to use that even the kids jumped in to help.

How to use the markers

Simply shake the grout pen, trace over the grout lines and wipe off any excess color from your tile.  You can use a rag or paper towel. At first, I was careful not to go outside of the lines but quickly figured out that anything outside of the grout line can be wiped away.

See for yourself

Here are a few before and after shots of the countertop. You can see for yourself what a difference the markers make in brightening up the grout. Not perfect, but a whole lot better, don’t you think?

This isn’t the first time I have been wowed by the products from this brand. I used the floor restorer product on my hard wood floors here. Which by the way, are still looking great!

I feel like I have been living under a rock….for years. I had no idea what an impact a grout restorer pen would have on my counter top. It did, and I am so excited to share the product and the change, just in case you live under a rock.

Looking forward to sharing the space once I finish it up.

Grateful

a place for my kids to have fun and create memories

  1. I can hardly wait to order me some of those! My late in-laws’ bathroom is nice and big, had been updated just a few years ago…but the grout was yick! I’ve been trying various things with no luck..so this is very welcome! Thanks a bunch and I hope you are recuperating well from your surgery.

  2. Oh, Laura!!! Thanks for sharing this and such great closeup pictures. I’ve been hesitant to do
this because I’ve seen some products leave a very rubbery look. From you close ups, I can tell
the lines still look like grout. I just finished scrubbing mine with a brush on my knees a few
weeks ago and told my husband “No more”.
