Mid Week Updates and Holiday Decor

Brrr….Baby it’s cold outside. I hope you are bundled up, the plants and the animals are taken care of as it looks like most of the country is down right chilly. Nothing like chasing your escaped goat on the coldest night of the year…in your jammies.  SO MUCH FUN.

Mid Week Updates and Holiday Decor

I have so much going on around the house, projects started and projects finished, that I want to share it all before the holiday season is full on. Nothing like getting your 2019 projects started with a few more months left in the year. Thanksgiving week we will be tackling the last one that has been on the list FOREVER and then that’s a wrap for project related stuff around here…for 2019. More pictures and details will come but here’s two of the latest ‘ almost’ completed projects.

I wallpapered and painted our Breakfast area. Whatcha think of the darker color?

Finally painted the ceiling on the screen porch. It only had white primer on it since we finished it a couple of years ago. You can see the reveal here. It amazes me how a couple of hours and staying focused could make me feel so accomplished. The color on the ceiling is called Web Gray from SW.

Now on to some randomness from around Duke Manor Farm.

Holiday Decor Plans

I have not decorated for the Christmas holidays yet but I do have a plan so executing in a week or two will be easy. Even though I went through a major purge last year with my holiday decorations ( best feeling ever especially since I never used 1/2 the stuff that I was storing and getting out each year),  I did purchase a few things that helped to inspire the look that I wanted around the house….and they are things that will take me into the winter. I am using faux sheepskin pillows and green plaid in my family room,  brass candle holders on my mantel, these red and black pillows on the front porch and these insanely pretty and inexpensive wreaths on the door. Like tradition, the exterior lights and front porch will get the pixie dust decor first and then I will move it inside. We always get our tree the day after Thanksgiving followed by a trip to the Waffle House ( I put aside my feelings about that place for the sake of the family)  but may break tradition this year and go a day early to get the tree.

Getting Healthy

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was taking a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar two times a day ( another big yuck) in my quest to lower my cholesterol level and all the other positive health benefits that it has. Honestly it was just the worst thing ever to drink, until I discovered Apple Cider gummies. Life changing with no more gagging. My hubby has been taking shots of Apple Cider vinegar for two years .  It has helped him so much that he no longer has to take blood pressure and cholesterol medicine. I should mention he also runs 4 -6 miles a day. I say good for him! What’s important to remember is do what works for you.

RIP Skippy

Sadly we lost a beloved member of our family last week. Our dog Skippy. He was a stray that found his way to our property 8 years ago and never left. It’s going to be hard to find another dog with so much loyalty and was such a faithful companion. Where I went, Skippy went. He will be missed.

My favorite way to start each day

Even though I do not like the time change, I must say I am capturing the most beautiful sunrise’s each morning lately.  Morning is my favorite time of the day. Looking outside to witness incredible sights like this is just a bonus.
