Kids Den

In addition to our ‘family tree‘, I also put up a tree in the Den. Generally it’s red and some other color ….this year I decided to add some black and white to it.  Since I have done red and white trees in the past, I had all the ornaments and ribbon. In fact, other than some fresh candy canes and the pom pom garland, everything in this space  including pillows and throws are things that I have used in previous years. I love when that happens….especially when you went through a major purge last year and only store the stuff that you actually end up using.

Naughty or Nice Holiday Home Tour

My daughter started a snow globe collection a couple of years ago and she was so proud and happy to display them. My Lily is my little Christmas queen decorator and will probably take over the holiday tours on the blog someday. 🙂

Screen Porch

Despite chilly temps this time of the year, this room gets used until the bitter cold sets in. We put a TV out here last year and love starting the mornings here on the weekend with hot tea and cocoa. To keep the look simple and to carry it through the winter, I added a new watercolor tree pillow to the existing pillows that I already had out here. A few trees, cozy throws, family games and some treats are all this room needs to be a cozy winter retreat for my family. You many have noticed that I recently painted the ceiling and I am just loving the contrast with the white walls and natural wood in this space. The color is called Web Gray from SW.

Piano Room

Initially I had not planned to put up a third tree in the house this year, but after a windy mishap ( read more about that here) I brought this tree inside and placed it in our piano room/entry way. A couple of years ago I did a blush tree so I was able to use ornaments that I already had. I did purchase the beautiful pink velvet ribbon at Hobby Lobby. On the entry console table I covered it with mercury glass votives and some pink glass trees. I am actually glad things turned out with the weather that day because it is all so quite magical and festive when someone is playing Christmas tunes on the piano ( 2 of my kids and myself play) and we can look at the tree all lit up.

  8. Laura,
Everything is absolutely gorgeous! While I love the shot of your kids, the one with your pup looking through the porch window is precious! I really admire how you frequently update your home with color. Loving the dark walls in your breakfast room. Merry Christmas, dear friend!
