About Douglas Lake

The house sits on Douglas Lake in Dandridge Tennessee. Luckily for me it’s a quick and easy 3-hour drive from Duke Manor Farm. I have been coming to this lake for 10 years and it is NEVER crowded. Often times we are only one of a few on the lake. It’s East Tennessee little hidden gems. Douglas Lake, also calledย Douglas Reservoir, is aย reservoirย created by an impoundment of theย French Broad Riverย inย Eastern Tennessee.ย  The lake has 512 shore miles and 1,081,880 acre-ft of water. Douglas lake is located only a few miles from the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, and also the Great Smoky Mountains National Park so there’s plenty to do if you want some excitement….but I usually don’t when I come here. I’ll show you why…

Imagine starting your morning out on the porch drinking hot tea or coffee with the beautiful sunrise and lake view. Isn’t it stunning? It is the epitome of calmness and serenity. I especially like the marginal cell phone coverage and being able to totally disconnect from all the cra-cra going on right now.
