Tuesday Check-in from Duke Manor Farm

Tuesday Check-in from Duke Manor Farm including beautiful fall around the property, holiday decor plans and my latest almost finished project.

Happy November!  Who else was happy to usher in a new month?  I love this time of the year, it’s the darn time change I can do without. Did you remember to set your clocks back?

Fall around the property

Walking outside on the back deck to get a glimpse of the beautiful sunrise never.gets.old. My backyard is the perfect backdrop to illustrate the beauty that mother nature gifts to us. I was lucky enough to capture this image the other morning.

Storm Clean-Up

The tropical storm rolled in and rolled out last week.  I can’t tell you the last time we had winds so strong ….and when it was dark. Fortunately, we did not encounter any outages or damage other than small branches and a full pool of leaves. We do not cover our pool during the offseason so it required a bit of clean up from my pool boy, aka hubby. I think an automatic vacuum is in our future….before the next storm anyways.

Holiday Decor Plans

I noticed Christmas trees starting to pop up in my feed and I can’t think of a better way to bring instant joy and happiness at a time we can all just a bit more. I haven’t yet figured out my holiday decor plan yet, but I do know that I will decorate with everything I have except for a new tree for the kid’s den and these cute plaid pillows. That’s it. 🙂 I’m thinking I will  recreate last year’s look here but in our downstairs den and do something different for the family room.  My first-holiday tour is on December 1st. You can see my previous holiday home tours here.

Read here about how I put up a blush and navy tree only to change it back to the ‘traditional’ tree that the kids expected. Note to self: get the family’s input before you put the tree up!

My latest finished project

I have a bunch of projects to share with you, some finished and some in progress. Projects that should have done well before the 11th month of the year, but hey I am blaming in on Covid….like everything else it seems. This weekend I tackled the daunting task of painting the family room. Not fun when your ceilings are 20 feet. Here’s the almost-finished space.  I’ll share the full room reveal soon.

Today’s election day….don’t forget to get out there and vote. Lucky for me we early voted.

Have a great week!

  1. That is exactly why we have 2 trees! And it was only last year and my youngest is 2o. They have very strong opinions about how we celebrate Christmas and following our traditions.
