If you have been around Duke Manor Farm for a while you know my love for succulents.  Not only are they super easy to maintain and grow but they also look great around the house both indoors and out. Click here for more succulent inspiration. Today I am going to show you how to assemble a succulent garden dish using a few succulents that I picked up at Lowes.

Gather your supplies

For this succulent garden dish, I used a shallow container that I have had for a while. You will also need a few succulents, garden soil, and some pebbles (optional). At the garden center look for pots that have multiple plants in them. This will cost less than buying individual plants. I picked up this pot with 4 plants in it for $10.98.

Plant your succulents

How to create a succulent dish garden

  1. Pour enough dirt into your container to be deep enough for your plants.
  2. Take the succulents carefully out of the original container. Some succulents can break easily. Remove any excess soil.
  3. Position your plants in the container before making the necessary holes to drop them in. Once in the hole place more soil around the plant.
  4. I used some pebbles on top of the soil. This step is completely optional. I have seen succulents thrive with or without them.
  5. Water without drenching your plant at the base.
  6. Place your succulent garden dish in a sunny location and water once a week or as needed.

Planting tips: Succulent roots can thrive in a shallow wide container. As with most plants, just make sure the container has good drainage. Never over-saturate your succulents or they will die.

Told you that was gonna be easy. Happy planting!
