Finally… My Living Room Reveal

Living Room Reveal at Duke Manor Farm. I’m mixing traditional and modern styles for a classic and clean design.

Living Room Before

Years ago I sold my Living Room furniture to a friend. It was super formal and just didn’t fit my style any longer. Sadly the room sat empty for far too long. This was the view when you came in the front door. It almost looked like we just moved in or were moving out.

I thought about putting the piano in the room ( which I ended up putting here), or leaving it empty and telling people it was for ballroom dancing. Not really since I can’t ballroom dance, but would love to. 🙂

Since it is the first space you see when you come in the front door, a room with furniture was the best option. Don’t you think?

Positioning the two love seats facing each other helps to create a more conversational sitting room. I mixed glass top tables with a stone top console table to mix it up. I chose glass tables to balance the weight of the love seats and the drapes since I definitely wanted a light and airy feel in the room.

Lighting Options

The only thing left to do, other than enjoy my new space is to replace the ceiling fan. I love the ceiling fan but not for this room. When I take it down I will move the fan to my office.  I am considering a hanging light that will make more of a statement. Here are three lighting options that I considered, and leaning towards the third option.

I have had this Mornings Away print forever and it’s like it was made for the wall in this room. It has been hung in the music room and most recently my Dining area. The blue drapes are the same ones that are hanging in the music room. Eventually, I may add a standing light on this side of the room for nighttime reading.

Speaking of mornings, look at the pretty morning light that pours into the room.

I’ll keep you posted on my lighting choice. Hopefully, it won’t take as long as furnishing the room did!

Grateful

for mornings

  1. Hello! Love the room! Love all the furnishings. The light choices are all great. I love the 2nd one, but they all are perfect! I always tell people we should live in our empty spaces to know what we want the space to be eventually. Can’t wait to see the light fixture when that happens!
