Home office makeover on a budget

It’s time to give my husbands home office a makeover on a budget to create a fresh, clean and updated work space.

It’s been a while since I put any kind of attention to updating my husbands office. Actually 8 years to be exact. You can see the last makeover I did here.

My husband is a bit more easy going when it comes to any decor or design changes around here. Since his office is not in the main part of our house ( it’s above our garage) it’s not an area that gets a lot of attention, even though the bread winner of the home happens to sit there every day. Shame on me.

My makeover strategy

My strategy for the makeover is fairly simple.

  • Spend little money on the improvements.
  • Give all surfaces a fresh coat of paint. I am using Pure White on the ceiling and Thunderous on the walls. Thunderous is one of the chameleon colors. Sometimes it reads greenish, sometimes gray. Hubby really likes the color.
  • Create a more masculine updated vibe in the room.
  • Get it done…like now.

Shamefully I am sharing the room before we started. I always love a good before and after and I think this one ranks right up there. The mess you see scattered on the floor and couch are parts for a new desk.

Phase 1…Paint

A few days before the end of the year we both decided to begin painting the room. Since I am still in recovery mode with my hip surgery, hubby pitched in and we got the room finished in a couple of days. My husband is not a fan of painting, so his motivation made me think he was ready for the makeover.

Here’s a few progress shots with the paint on the wall.

Paint alone has already transformed the space and I am so excited to see the office come together. So is he! I’ll be back to show you more of my ideas for our Home office makeover on a budget.

What projects are you working on these days?

  2. Office Makeover is on our project list this year. Love the paint color. Funny it feels at once bold and calm! But our first order of business is the dredded Closet Organition. Before we pull out everything, we need to decide on a sturdy, adjustable system that will last. Any ideas? Looking forward to your office reveal!
