Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm
Hello Saturday! It’s a full weekend here at Duke Manor Farm as I have one on the lake today fishing and one running around a track at her first high school meet of the season, hence while I am writing this at the crack of dawn. I hope you are all doing well, and staying healthy, especially as allergy season cranks up.
Media Room Update
I have every intention to put together more detailed posts on the media room project instead of random progress photos. The good news is I started to paint the walls yesterday, the bad news is I am stuck on my flooring decision. Carpet or LVP ( luxury vinyl plank). Whatever we decide, we will be installing ourselves… at least that is the plan right now.
This week we installed some trim on the walls and I started painting. I choose a color called Carbon from Behr. It’s a deep charcoal color that will work well in the space and coordinate with our red chairs. If you are just seeing this project for the first time, this is where it all started. Can’t wait to get this room finished so we can start enjoying it again.
Hello Baby Chicks
Even though we have been hatching our own eggs for the last few years, it’s always fun to witness the birth of the chicks. This round we hatched all six eggs and they are all healthy…and oh so loud. We currently have another batch of six in the incubator now. You can check out the entire process of what we do here.
Girl Scout Cookie Idea
I am a big fan of supporting Girl Scout Cookie sales, sadly a little too much so. But…. I decided to use the Adventureful cookie ( think brownie and caramel together) and create a crumble for the layers and on a cake that I made recently. Of course, I used my favorite homemade frosting and it was AMAZING.
Eat more cake…and cookies but more importantly, support the Girl Scouts.
Other Randomness
- I have Your Place or Mine and The Best of Me in my watch list for the weekend. Both came highly recommended. Have you seen either of the movies?
- I just bought this shirt in black to wear with jeans. It comes in lots of colors.
- Since I sit all day at my day job, this footrest is perfect for my knees and back. It was not expensive at all and really does provide nice support.
- If you are looking for an excellent full-coverage foundation this is what I use. It has a hydrating serum along with Spf 50. I wear medium.
