Latest Adventure
Last week I took Lily and her friend to Helen for some tubing on the Chattahoochee. Since her friend was visiting from Italy we decided to walk the town and get some lunch after tubing. I would highly recommend Cowboys and Angels for lunch. Probably the best meal I have had in Helen. FYI- can’t beat an afternoon floating on the river for less than $20.00.
I’m trying to create more experiences and be more intentional with my time with all the kids this summer. Since the twins will be seniors this year it has hit me like a ton of bricks that our ‘normal’ summers when they were younger are going to be changing in the next year.
Speaking of creating memories I took Colton and Lily to Jekyll Island last week. We had an amazing time. Unfortunately my angler (Jacob) and the captain (hubby) were preparing for a state fishing tournament and couldn’t join us. I’ll do a post next week on Jekyll Island in case you may be looking for a fun getaway this summer.
Latest Projects around Duke Manor Farm
I am trying to mix in a few projects this summer but nothing major. First was cleaning our wood adirondack chairs that we keep around the firepit. Despite being outside and under trees they have held up really well. I decided I am going to paint them for more durability.
The other project that I have started (albeit at a summer pace) is repainting the walls in our workout space. When I painted the room a couple of years ago I used a flat paint. Since it’s a small high traffic area the little scuffs aren’t as easy to come off, so this time I am using a semi-gloss…. in white. I’ll leave the ceiling blue… the color (Blisssful Blue from SW) makes me happy.
Other randomness to share
I just finished The Better Sister and Sirens on Netflix. Both are worth the binge.
I picked up some new floats for the pool and got a white flamingo. He’s solar powered and lights up at night.
New Balance sneakers are perfect for my wide foot. I recently bought these.
Quick and easy sheet pan meals are on repeat around the house this summer. I recently made this dish with gnocchi, veggies and sausage and everyone loved it. It was my first time eating gnocchi and plan on making it again soon.
