Kitchen Cabinet Transformation With Behr Herb Cornucopia
I recently completed a full cabinet makeover for a client, and this rich, earthy green completely changed the entire feel of the space. If you’ve been searching for a paint color that brings warmth, depth, and a beautiful pop of personality to a kitchen, Behr Herb Cornucopia may be the perfect shade. Today, I’m sharing the full transformation—from dated oak cabinets to a fresh, timeless kitchen.
Why We Chose Herb Cornucopia for This Kitchen
1. It Adds Instant Warmth Without Feeling Too Dark
Herb Cornucopia is a gorgeous medium green with warm undertones. In this kitchen, it struck the perfect balance between cozy and modern—rich enough to make a statement but soft enough to feel welcoming. Although my client loves green, we decided to change the green wall color to something a bit more complementary to the new cabinet color. We choose Pebble Cream (Behr) for the walls.
2. A Pop of Color That Still Feels Neutral
Green is having a major moment in home design, and Herb Cornucopia works beautifully as a “neutral-with-character.” It adds a subtle pop of color without overwhelming the room. Whether you have wood floors, tile, stainless steel appliances, or warm lighting, this shade plays well with so many finishes.

3. Works With Both Traditional and Modern Styles
Whether your home leans farmhouse, cottage, transitional, or modern, this color adapts beautifully. In this client’s kitchen, it updated the room without feeling out of place—still cozy, still classic, but fresh and current.
The Process: How We Updated the Cabinets for a Professional Finish
Step 1: Deep Cleaning and Prep
All cabinet surfaces were thoroughly cleaned and degreased. I used TSP to do the cleaning. Prep work is the secret to a long-lasting finish, especially in a kitchen.
Step 2: Sanding and Priming
We lightly sanded the cabinets to create adhesion. This ensures durability and prevents chipping.

Step 3: Painting With Herb Cornucopia
Two coats of Herb Cornucopia ( I used SW Emerald Urethane ) brought the color to life. This shade offers fantastic coverage and levels beautifully for a smooth coat.
Step 4: Updated Hardware for a Modern Touch
New satin nickel hardware instantly refreshed the look and complemented the stainless-steel appliances.
Step 5: Finishing Touches That Complete the Space
We replaced the old light fixture above the sink with a clean, modern one in satin nickle—an inexpensive update that made the new cabinet color glow even more. My client is replacing her floor soon and then this kitchen will be having it’s moment!

The Dramatic Before & After
Before: Dated Oak Cabinets
The original honey-oak cabinets were functional, in great shape but visually heavy. The space felt darker and more enclosed.

After: A Fresh, Modern, Green Kitchen
Once the cabinets were painted Herb Cornucopia, the entire room lifted. The walls looked lighter, the counters brighter, and the whole kitchen gained a warm, modern personality.
