How To Love Your Garage Again

I wasn’t sure if I was going to share this today….in fear of being judged. I mean seriously who paints graffiti on their own garage walls….although I will admit the sentiment that my husband painted with our initials is so sweet. But still….who does that!

FYI-  We aren’t really graffiti artists. We used some of the garage in late winter to paint the kitchen cabinets, and the walls were used to test the paint sprayer, knowing that we would be painting them down the road.

Or the chalk board near the door that got framed out but never really got finished.

Or the cabinets that never really got a paint job from when you originally painted them 12 years ago.

And the site of this, as you pulled the car into the garage would make you want to back out as quickly as you pulled in.

So, I am thinking that I am going to inspire you in one of two ways…or both,  to never let your garage get out of control in the first place OR inspire you to take control of your garage situation with a few quick changes.
Graffiti wall is gone thanks to two coats of exterior paint on the walls and ceiling.

Chalkboard is now ready for more love notes thanks to 4 pieces of trim that I made into a frame and painted and then painted the inside with chalkboard paint.

You can see how I painted the stairs here.

Cabinets now match the rest of the garage with a couple coats of fresh paint.

And now the car smiles and wants to stay parked when it comes into the garage and sees this.

And I actually want to get out and walk through it…smiling.

Next week, I will share how we built some wall shelving to tackle some of the garage residents…balls, shoes, misc, toys and stuff and a few more things we are doing to start loving our garage again.

So how clean and organized is your garage…don’t worry no judging here!

Grateful
Spending time with my mom

  1. Your garage looks fantastic, Laura! I wouldn't show the state of ours on my blog even if someone offered me beaucoup bucks, haha. It is that bad! I can only dream of a garage that looks as nice as yours does 🙂

    1. Amen, sister! Although my husband LOVES to show the chaos off to our neighbors by opening the door all day on Saturday! 🙂 I don't think our car has ever even seen the inside of our garage…..sigh!

  2. Your garage looks nice. I painted ours a gray color a couple of years ago. I also had my hubby install two new cabinets. Looks nice and clean.

  3. The garage is strictly my hubby's domain– it does need a little bit of sprucing up. To me it seems dark and dingy although it is very neat. Think I'll talk him into painting it.

  4. I think your garage looks great. I think I would have left the sweet heart that your husband made. My husband cut our field one day and wrote I Love You out of the grass. I lost my beloved husband suddenly seven months ago. Miss him terribly !

  5. Your garage looks great! When we spruced up our garage last fall, we painted the floor with concrete floor paint. It made our garage feel like a car showroom and made sweeping it out so easy. I highly recommend it.

  6. Que bonito ha quedado, da pena meter el coche dentro por si se mancha jaja… La puerta y los escalones, preciosos, me gusta todo, felicidades¡¡
