New Floors Using Golden Select

As I mentioned here, we are just about finished installing the new floors using Golden Select laminate flooring. I wish you could see these gorgeous floors in person….they are more amazing then in the pictures and prettier then I expected….and I only say that because I have never worked with laminate flooring before. Honestly, laminate flooring was not what I thought it was…..it’s better.

Need I remind you of what the floor looked like before laying down this simple click system flooring?

New Floors Using Golden Select

The installation of these floors was so easy. Okay, I didn’t actually install them but my 8 year did. My son installed the floors while my husband made the cuts. But no worries if you are not the typical DIY’er because Golden Select includes detailed installation instructions, tips and care information with your order.  They have an entire support section on their website which includes installation guides, installation videos, FAQs and warranty information.

This is basically how the whole entire installation process goes. Hammer and click into place.

The most important part of the project is to start even and work across your room.

Make sure your cuts and edges are smooth by using a good sharp blade.

Stagger your boards as you work across your space following a consistent pattern.

The pre-attached foam backing on the 15 mm boards is thick and adds even more value to the flooring so there is no need to purchase your own underlayment. The Silver Spring finish that I selected has an old barn finish with the saw cut marks you find on real hardwood floors which gave it that authentic barn-wood look, which is exactly the look I was wanting for the guest house.

We have finished the new floors using Golden Select in the living area (above) and the kitchen, and we’re almost done with the bedroom (below) and I wanted to share a few peeks at how it turned out.

As soon as I get everything back in place I will share the full reveal of the guest house featuring these amazing floors from Golden Select.  In the meantime, don’t forget to follow me on my Instagram or Facebook page for updates and pictures of the space, including my design plan and my little helper. If you have any questions about product or the installation process leave me or a comment or send me an email….and I will have my son ha get back to you!

A special thanks to Golden Select for sponsoring this post.

  1. Uhhh…your 8 year old installed the floors…did I read that correctly?! Wow…I will never turn up my nose at laminate again…the floors are fabulous. Thanks for an enlightening post!

  2. I really like the flooring. I have hardwoods throughout the majority of the 1st floor. The stairs and upstairs is all carpeted. I’m considering pulling up the carpet and doing a runner on the stairs w/wood treds. But the open area at the top of the stairs and bonus room I’d like to do laminate or engineered hardwoods. Is it a mistake to do a different type of flooring ? Do I need to do matching hardwoods on the second floor. The upstairs 2 bedrooms would be carpeted the same as the downstairs master.

    1. Hi Denise- since they are different areas and you wouldn’t see the upstairs flooring next to your first floor I don’t necessarily think that your wood floors need to match. I would think that you would want to complement the wood on the stairs with your first floor and second floor since they are all joining each other. Hope that helps. hope you are have a great weekend!

  3. Love the looks of this floor and the bonus of it being so easy to install. And also love the fact it will be so easy to keep it looking good. Imagine no more carpet cleaning bills it pays for itself. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Laura, your floors look so nice! Looking forward to the full reveal of your Guest House! Have a great day!
