Bedroom Design Ideas Using Navy

With my introduction of Navy into the house over the past couple of years, it didn’t surprise me that the color would somehow make it’s way into my bedroom and I would be sharing my bedroom design ideas using navy. I think it started when I wallpapered my office, which much to my husbands surprise, I still love.
In the 15 years that I have lived in my home, I have made a few changes to the color ( meaning 2 ) and bedding ( soon to be 3)  in my Master Bedroom. This was one of the earlier looks that I had for a while. The bedding is the Matine Toile from here and the wall color is Pallidum Blue from Benjamin Moore. I love that bedding and actually have held on to it…. for another rainy day.

Then I lightened up the space a few years ago by changing the wall color and bedding. You can catch up on that here.
The wall color is called Rhinestone from SW and I just love the love. The look in the space was light and serene, which is what I wanted. The Linden duvet and shams from Crane and Canopy mixed with a pattern duvet from here, seemed like the perfect combination….until thoughts of Navy entered into my dreams at night.  I will hold on to the bedding…. cause you never know.

Which takes me to here. My Bedroom Design Ideas Using Navy. I don’t know if all of these pieces are where I will land exactly, but these are the thoughts when I close my eyes and envision what I want my room to look like. It’s still a serene space but by adding the navy in the rug and bedding it will ground the space a bit more, while the lighter colors in the white duvet cover, chair and headboard will add the softness that I want.

I have actually started to make some changes to my bedroom. You may have even noticed in this post when I snuck in a picture of my bed. I also moved my bed to this wall to change it up a bit.  My bedding will be from Crane and Canopy. You can probably tell that I just love the quality of their bedding. This time I am going for a soft white duvet called the Peninsula.  What I appreciate about the bedding from Crane and Canopy is that is super soft. The duvet has a zipper with inside ties to hold my comforter in place. I’m not a big fan of duvet covers that have nothing to secure your comforter. I will layer it with this blue and white duvet and shams from PB. It doesn’t look like it is available any longer.

To complement the beautiful bedding, I’m excited to bring in more texture into the space to soften it up a bit. Right now all the furniture ( which is the first bedroom set that we bought when we got married) is wood. At some point I would consider changing out the headboard or incorporating an upholstered bench at the foot of the bed. Since I have no rug in the room currently ( it got moved to the guest house bedroom) I need one.  I have loved this rug ever since I saw it here. And you can’t beat the price.

I am a big believer that your bedroom should be a place of refuge. And a place that is a relaxing retreat within your home. I’ll keep you posted on my progress. I hope if you are considering a color change in your own space, that my bedroom design ideas using navy will inspire you as well.

  1. I am a big fan of navy as well. I have it in my home office and master bedroom. In fact, I have been looking for things to update my master bedroom lately so your post caught my eye. Such pretty ideas, Laura!

  2. It’s going to be gorgeous…just like the rest of your house! Before I moved into this apt, I had them paint an accent wall in my bedroom navy. Not sure if you’ve seen it but my headboard is white velvet and I have mirrors with gold trim all over the navy wall. I’ve loved it but I’m kinda getting tired of it. I should correct myself…what I’m tired of is the apt paint colors! A very pale off white, kinda a touch of taupe. BUT…all the woodwork and trim is a mocha color. Ugh! I don’t do brown shades at all. Sorry I rambled! 🙂 Can’t wait to see what you do with this room!

  3. What a gorgeous bed! I’ve always loved navy. I feel that it is kind of a neutral, like blue jeans for our wardrobes. I remember in the early eighties I had a pair of table lamps that were navy that I bought from a nice shop. I wish I still had them. They would have been perfect now.
