A thrifty giveaway for you along with 10 other giveaways

I love to go thrifting and rummaging through other peoples stuff. Sadly I don’t get the opportunity to go as often as I would like. But if you are like me, today’s post brings that opportunity to you with the chance to win something that I pulled out of my storage room along with 10 other items and chances from the Thrifty Style team. Fun, right?

You ever hear the expression “Someone’s junk is another man’s treasure?  Meaning,  what you don’t use anymore in your own home could look lovely in somebody else’s home. Well today’s post is all about that and more. This idea could not have come at a better time as I am literally in the middle of emptying my storage room into the guest room so it can be reconfigured….to store more stuff.  I’ll share more about that project in a later post.

The item that I am giving away is this beautiful magnolia arrangement that I got a few years ago. They don’t sell the exact arrangement any longer but you can see a similar one that took it’s place here. I used it for a mothers day tablescape a few years ago. It is such a beautiful and realistic arrangement that would be perfect in your spring or summer home. The reason I decided to gift it to one of you is because I think ya’ll are awesome and……. a few years ago I planted my own magnolia trees on the property and they are now mature enough to cut and enjoy.

Heck, even the ‘water’ looks authentic. It’s a lovely arrangement and I can’t wait to see who I’ll be mailing it to. Besides, that’s one more thing that I don’t have to move back into the storage room when it’s ready.

  1. The last treasure in my stash that I gave away was probably some picture frames for my daughter to use in her first home. It has been fun to help her decorate!

    1. We had an 80th birthday party for my Mom and as part of her table decorations I used my
cement cherub statue for the table. I let her take it home as part of her gift. She has it in her flower gardens where she can see it every time is outside.

  2. What a lovely arrangement! I adore magnolias and have just moved to the South and they are all over the place down here!

  4. What a lovely arrangement and it would look so lovely on my table for Easter this year that I am hosting. The last thing that I just gave away was actually for Christmas. I had some old timber boards that I stained, and painted “Welcome” on one side of the board in white, and “Believe” on the other side of the board in red. I had 3 boards and gave them away as Christmas gifts. They cost me really nothing but a little time and elbow work, but were so appreciated as gifts.

  5. Organize the storage room? Now that is a sentence that is foreign to me. We did that once in 25 years, and it was brutal.

  6. I love Magnolias. Not sure if you are familiar with the movie, The Good Dinosaur or not. But my Granddaughter calls the pods that drop Arlo food. Anyway my last gift was a burlap bow for a wreath someone needed.

  7. Used one of my wicker baskets; filled with many useful goodies and gave as a housewarming gift to our new neighbor

  8. The last thing I gave from my stash… well, I’d crocheted a purple scarf for myself but now have a green winter coat. The scarf was really long, so I folded over the ends and crocheted the edges together a bit to make pockets… and gave it to my granddaughter, who is always losing her gloves. It works fine as a scarf and she has cozy pockets for her hands… and she loves purple almost as much as I do!

  9. We had a barely-used and lovely lazy Susan that we just didn’t have the right set-up for; we recently gave it away along with some garden signs.

  10. Great giveaway and the last thing I gave away from my stash is some of my handmade assemblage jewelry!

  14. Oh my goodness! I had to show your giveaway to my husband. As a southern girl that living in Massachusetts I so miss beautiful Southern magnolias. They are an all time favorite. right this moment i can imagine their sweet fragrance. Just thinking about them has brought a smile to my face.

What did I last giveaway from my stash? That’s an easy one. I gave a sweet young lady a pair of large framed prints I’ve had for a couple of years, but never found the “right” place for them. She was helping me out and just from chatting with her I knew she would appreciate having them. She did.

And, now that I’ve found you I have subscribed. I am excited to see what projects and decorating ideas I can glean from you!

  15. I’ve signed up for your e-mails/blog! What have I last given away from my “stuff”? Geez, I can’t think of one thing! I have been culling things, though I’m still at the piling them up stage. Probably the last thing I’ve given away was given to my oldest daughter as we tend to like similar things. But I don’t remember what it was! It might have been a plant because I have so many I’m always giving them away for lack of room. We’ll go with that!

  21. The last thing I gave away, I’m glad you asked, my oldest daughter bought her first home and when she moved out she took most of my antique furniture including a large round mirror that always hung in my grandmothers livingroom.
    Thank you for this opportunity.

  22. Love Magnolias! I live in South Florida and lots of people have told me that you can’t grow a magnolia here. About 7 years ago, our local Home Depot had some small ones for sale. I scooped it up right away. I babied it in the beginning and then just let it do its thing. For years, I was taller than it but finally one year it took off! I love it so much! Even though Hurricane Irma took 6 of my trees, my Magnolia wasn’t one of them! Well I better get to what I last gave up!
From my stash, I had a weathered board that I painted and stenciled our new grandson’s name and birthdate on it. I gave it to our daughter to put in his nursery! Thanks for the giveaway!

  23. That arrangement is lovely, I would love to win it. I bought some old unfinished wood crates at the thrift store. I stained them and used them for a basket to put homemade jams and canned goods in for a gift for a friend. They loved them.

  24. I just gave a little stuffed bear in an Irish sweater to our new grandson. I’ve had it for years and am glad to have passed it to him. He is only 10 months old and loved the little bear. Can’t wait until he is old enough to go “antiquing” with his Gramsie.

  31. Gorgeous arrangements. Thank you for sharing it! I love magnolias, and wish I had a good place to plant one. for now I just admire my neighbors 🙂 I just cleaned out an entire (shelf!) of my decor storage closet and took my treasures to a thrift store supporting animal rescue. Hated the sorting, hated parting with some things I loved but never, ever used, feels so good to have it done. Really making an effort to accumulate much less stuff and concentrated on a few treasures….

  32. The last thing I gave away was an empty wine bottle. Lol. A friend needed it for a project so was happy to help her.

  33. I shared with my grandsons therapy group,a weighted blanket I made for a raffle. It was almost a year ago. I do follow you and script to your blog; which I love! I would love your magnolia display!

  39. i recently gave a crystal cake stand and cover to my cousin. It was one I bought for my mom who passed away in January.

  40. Hmmm….maybe a couple of cookbooks from my vintage cookbook collection. I gave them to my sister.

  41. The last think I gave away was a spring flower arrangement. Gave it to my daughter and she uses it in her house now. Thank you

  42. First thanks for this great giveaway! I am disabled and on a fixed income, so each gift I give is always handmade. For Christmas I gave new life to a beat up bellows I found somewhere in my travels. I removed a tacky adornment and cleaned up the wood and conditioned the leather . It was looking good. I took a paint marker and put the person’s last name, town and year he bought the house on it, then I used some AS dark wax and gave it an antique look. He loved it and I did too. And he has a woodstove so he will use it too!

  43. My last stash gift was making heart shapes from my large collection of vintage zippers. I made 2 red hearts for our grands and a pink heart for a friend.

  44. The last thing I gave away was a sweater to my 86 year old neighbor. I went to her house to bring her some food and she kept taking about how beautiful my sweater was and how she needed to go to the store and try to find one because her’s were so old. So I took it off and gave it to her lol. It was brand new but made me feel great.

  45. The last thing that I gave away was a bisque Colonial figurine that my late father had given to my late mother on her 16th birthday. I wanted my daughter to have it as a reminder of the great love that they shared for each other.

  46. Laura, how fortunate you are to have your own gorgeous Magnolias growing in your yard! I love this flower and I ordered three stems from Magnolia in Waco. They really do look like the “real” thing as our friends have gone up to check them out! Up here in Canada where I live, we are not able to have this gorgeous flower as it is just too cold.
The last thing I gave away for a raffle at a place near us who works with unwed mothers was a table centerpiece with pink roses, greenery and burlap placed around three candle holders with glass on them. We drove the half hour to take it to them. The gals there just loved it. Their raffle will be next Friday. They have two raffles a month and we have been giving them something pretty each month for the past few years. I just makes your heart feel so good to bring them something pretty! I often leave with tears in my eyes at how grateful they are for the things I bring them. It really makes your heart feel so good to make the effort to do this as these girls are certainly not in a position to buy things for themselves.

Have a great week, Laura! Thanks for offering this fabulous give-away to all of us who read and enjoy your posts so very much!

    Bless you for your kindness!
