Fall front porch with orange and gray accents

Fall front porch with orange and gray accents

We love this time of the year on the front porch. Truth be told, we designed the house around the porch and there’s nothing I love more then to pull up to the house each day and see that place where we sit, laugh and create memories. The weather in the fall certainly makes it more enjoyable to do that as well as changing out some pillows and putting out a few cozy throws.

This year I went with the traditional orange fall color, and paired it with gray accents. Nothing over the top, just some simple touches to make this a warm and comfortable place to sit during the season. Click here to see how  I used blue plaid, mustard and copper last Fall.

Easy Pillow Trick

Speaking of sitting, I made some pillows out of a tablecloth that I found at Home Goods. For $15.00 and an hours time I whipped up 4 pillows in various sizes. So that they stay fresh for the next few months I sprayed them with scotch guard so they are easy to keep clean ….. since my critters think they own the place. You can find my tutorial on pillow covers here. I also replaced the previous seat cushions with these velvet covers from IKEA. It’s an excellent and budget friendly solution if you have to replace multiple seat cushions as they can be pricey. I also sprayed scotch guard on these too.

We have had the same wicker furniture for about 12 years now. With a few paint jobs it has held up decently except in a few areas that the dogs have chewed….I like to think of that as character.  A few months ago I moved it to the back deck and thought I wanted to get something else for up here. Well that never happened  I moved it back and got this new bench instead. I love how it fits in this area so much more then a chair would. The wood seat is a great complement to my front doors and the metal frame won’t rot out like the legs of the wicker if it gets wet.

Rather then get rid of some summer plants that are still thriving, I added some white mums to my urns which had some Ivy and Creeping Jenny in them. Despite following my own tips to keeping mums looking good, mine still aren’t looking the best this season. I think the unseasonally warm weather may have been the culprit. Fortunately, fall temps have moved in this week so I hope they can bounce back for the remainder of Fall.

I hope some of my tips provide some inpsiration  for your Fall porch or patio. I also hope you are slowing down long enough to enjoy moments just to sit and take in all the beauty that Fall has to offer.
