2025 Home Decor Trends
Today’s post is not about trying to tell anyone to follow the 2025 home decor trends, because I don’t. As many of you know, trends come and go…and some even make it back around. BTW- I wish I never painted some of the wood cabinets in my house.
For instance Green was so popular in the 1990’s, and making a strong comeback today. It’s a perfect transition color. Bottom line, you can paint or decorate your home any way that you want. Like I always say…do what brings you joy and happiness.
2025-2026 Home Decor Trends
Warm Earthy Palettes Continue to Shine
The love for organic colors shows no signs of slowing down in 2026. Terracotta, clay, brick, ochre, and olive continue to dominate paint decks and design boards. These hues feel grounding and natural — perfect for balancing modern lines or white spaces that need warmth.

DMF Tip: I recently used Sherwin-Williams Cavern Clay in a client project. Its a warm terracotta color, with a earthy hue that brings the warmth of the outdoors. It was also Sherwin Williams color of the year in 2019.
Moody Neutrals Replace Cool Grays
Crisp grays are giving way to soft, moody neutrals — mushroom taupe, greige, and warm charcoal. These hues make rooms feel timeless and layered, offering the perfect backdrop for wood tones, art, and brass accents. I love how warm my kitchen island feels in Thunderous from SW, with the wood floors and brass knobs. You can see the full reveal here.

Some of my favorite moody neutral shades:
- Sherwin-Williams -Agreeable Gray
- Sherwin Williams – Thunderous
- Sherwin Williams – Iron Ore
Pair moody neutrals with matte black or brass hardware and creamy trim for instant sophistication.
Textured Interiors
Forget shiny finishes 2025–2026 is all about texture. Think textured walls, stone fireplaces, boucle upholstery, cane details, and hand-woven fabrics. The goal is to make rooms feel as good as they look.

At Duke Manor Farm, I love layering rugs and using mixed materials. A linen throw over a velvet sofa or a jute rug under a patterned one gives so much dimension.
Statement Lighting Takes Center Stage
Lighting is no longer an afterthought. Expect lighting with curved metal arms, beautiful chandeliers, woven pendants, that double as art.

Swapping a dated light fixture can transform an entire room. See my when the Piano Room was a Dining Room here.
These lighting options caught my eye:
Pattern Drenching
Say goodbye to minimalism. Pattern drenching — repeating one or multiple prints across walls, drapery, and upholstery — is the statement look of 2026. It’s daring, but it works beautifully in smaller spaces like powder rooms or cozy bedrooms.

How to Try It:
Stick with tonal colors (soft greens, blues, or neutrals) and mix scale — large wallpaper motifs with smaller pillow patterns. The pattern in the rug, wall paper and bedding are all different but have most of the same colors.
Cozy, Collected Spaces Rule
Gone are the days of perfectly matched furniture sets. The new direction? Collected, character-filled spaces that tell a story. It’s been 24 years living in my home and it finally feels intentionally lived in.

Mix your collected treasures with new finds. Display meaningful art. Use color and texture to connect old and new. Let the rooms in your home tell a story about the family that lives there.
What’s Fading Fast for 2026
Some trends are gracefully bowing out:
All-white everything — too stark for today’s warmth-driven aesthetic.
Bouclé overload — keep it balanced with smooth textures.
Cold gray tones — replaced by greige and mushroom neutrals. So glad I repainted the main area of my house in Agreeable Gray recently.
Ultra-minimalism — people crave personality and coziness now.
Decorate What You Love
Trends come and go, but your home should always feel like you.
Use this year’s looks as a guide, not a rulebook. Add texture, warmth, and soul wherever you can in your home — and remember, the best decor trend is the one that feels authentic to how you live. A well-loved home never goes out of style.
Which of these trends would you try first — warm neutrals, statement lighting, or bold patterns?
