Fall Tour at Duke Manor Farm

Welcome to the Fall tour at Duke Manor Farm. I am thrilled you are here. If you are coming from Bree’s at Z Design At Home, she is a tough act to follow. I appreciate her design style and her beautiful home is always a treat to visit.  I’m like the kid in the candy store…..I can never get enough. If you are new to Duke Manor Farm you can get all caught up here about me and my love for design and my crazy life here in the country with my family, dogs, cats, chickens, goats, ducks, horses and donkey.  Yes, there is something for everyone around here. Enough about the funny farm, let’s get on with the tour!

Many thanks go out to Marty at At Stroll Thru Life who puts together this amazing fall tour with 30 beautiful and inspiring homes. All the links and schedule will be at the end of this post.

Take last years tour here.

Fall Dining Area

My laid back and slightly minimal approach to decorating the house goes hand in hand with my love for Fall. I look at Fall as a breather….for me and the house. A precursor to winter and the busy holiday season that will be here before you know it. I love  to bring the signs of fall inside, without getting all fussy and  busy. Besides, the real beauty of fall is right out our back door.

Indoors, you will find hints of the fall season in small flower arrangements, candles,  branches from outside and some pumpkins here and there.

Not to confuse you but something interesting about this room is, it originally was our family room. At the 11th hour we decided to close in the screen porch  and make that the family room and use this as the breakfast room. We are currently doing some work to this room on the wall that you can not see and I look forward to sharing that in the next couple of weeks. My latest project in this area was painting the kitchen island. You can read about that here.

Fall Family Room

You can see by the 3 sided wall of windows why we wanted this room to be the family room. It always feels like you are sitting in a tree house.  In order to make the room useful and comfortable ,we added the wood burning stove along with air conditioned and a heat pump. The day we made the decision to dry in the room the stone masons were here working on the front porch and we just had them add stone to this floor as well.  Since the floor is a tad bit hard with the stone, I always layer up a couple of rugs. This is one of the best and softest rugs that I have in the house.

In this room I got out my favorite fall throws and a couple of rust colored pillows and layered them on top of pillows that I had been currently using. I love the mix of texture, color and pattern. Just those couple of additions and the room is ready to usher in the fall season.

Fall Kitchen

I kinda had this obsession with mustard  every since I used it in this space last year  and decided to throw it into the kitchen. Who knew that it would work so well in most areas in my home.  If you love the color like me, I put together 12 ways to bring it into your home this season here.  I replaced a clock for this sweet ‘Pumpkin Patch’ sign along with some mustard pumpkins and some greenery from the yard.

When I took these pictures yesterday it was raining like a full on monsoon. We need the rain so I didn’t complain and just started shooting.  Besides, whether it’s sunny or not, I hope to create a comfortable, cozy home regardless. I’ll be back throughout the month and share more of my fall home and from around the farm and property and I hope you will come back to visit. Don’t forget to follow Duke Manor Farm here and here to keep up with the latest around here or better yet, sign up for my newsletter or email so you won’t miss a thing!
