4 tips for cozy porch living this season

4 tips for cozy porch living that will provide you all the comforts to sit back and enjoy the summer months….outdoors

It’s no secret I love my outdoor spaces around Duke Manor Farm. That’s largely why we bought this property 20 years ago. I am especially loving our patio and porches, particularly over the last few months. It’s a great way to escape from the distractions inside the house (you know the kids, the laundry and the what’s for dinner questions) and have another cozy place to sit back and hideout relax.

4 tips for cozy porch living

Regardless of the porch or patio that I am sitting in, I try to make each area a cozy spot to sit and not want to leave. Here are 4 tips for cozy porch living that I use around Duke Manor Farm.

A cold beverage

Must always have a cold beverage on hand, particularly on a hot Georgia summer day. My sweet tea is always a hit but a cold margarita will do as well. Don’t forget easy to eat snacks!

Include plants or flowers in your space

This is the best time to take the clippers and walk outside to your yard. Luckily something is always blooming around here to enjoy. If not, I cut a bunch of green stems from a bush and call it good enough. The idea to bring more life into your space with plants and fresh-cut flowers.

Make it comfy

It’s not enough to look good, it has to feel good. I love that I can use comfy indoor pillows on the sectional on my covered screen porch ( I find outdoor pillows just aren’t as comfortable)  I try to mix it up seasonal and change out the pillows to keep it fresh. This summer I used a mix of blue and gray. I think it looks pretty against the green backdrop of the backyard.

Keep games, and reading material nearby

Although we have a tv in this space, we are typically talking, reading or playing games. Currently, we are into Rummikub, and Name 5 things.  I use baskets to hold magazines and games so that they are easily accessible…and I don’t have to get up once I have sat down.

  1. Love you’re outdoor space; there’s nothing better than alone time on the porch. I look forward to spending time on ours everyday. I take my Bible and ipad out and enjoy the day. I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen your porch, not sure how I’ve missed it before!
