Summer Living at Duke Manor Farm

Welcome to summer….living at Duke Manor Farm. My kids have been out of school for three weeks now and we finally have our summer mojo on. My summer home tour today is about as random as our days have been. Simple, relaxed and summery. Special thanks to Marty at A Stroll Thru Life who hosts this amazing home tour with 30 beautiful homes ready to inspire you with summer goodness. All the links and full line up will be at the end of this post.

If you are joining me from Monica at Monica Wants it welcome to Duke Manor Farm. If this is your first time here you can read all about my home in the country and the real life funny farm with horses, goats, ducks, chickens….and kids, that we created here in Northeast Georgia. If you are a regular visitor at Duke Manor Farm, glad to see you today!

Keeping with my laid back approach on the blog this summer…..and life in general, I have included some random rooms in the tour that quite frankly, were easy to tidy up. In all reality though, the house pretty much looks like this for the entire summer……

Stuffed animals take the place of perfectly placed pillows.

Family Room

We just finished making some minor changes to this space ( repaint walls, new lights, blinds). In a later post I will share more details and photos. This is our families favorite place to hang together. When we were building our home, this was designed to be a screened patio but at the last minute we decided to turn it into an enclosed room. Glad we did.

Screen Porch

After living in our home for 15 years we finally screened in the porch last summer. If you know anything about Georgia Mosquitos, they are relentless. So to have an area protected from the outside mosquito army is a blessing.

Master Bedroom

Not much pomp and circumstance in here. A cut a few magnolia blooms and traded out some pillows on the bed and calling it summer. The rest of the house can be a disaster….but my bed will always be made! Are you like that too?

Breezeway

I shared this space yesterday in  post about re purposing what you have. The ‘new’ shoe and backpack cubbies use to belong in the upper cabinets in my breakfast area. I found that I was filling shelf space just to fill and decided to take them down, move them and create more purpose. Mission accomplished.

Outside on the Property

This is a view off the front porch. Duke Manor Farm sits on 25 acres. The front part of the property is pasture and back part is wooded with a 50 acre lake.

Backyard and pool area

We finished our backyard pool last summer and just love it. The objective was to create a serene and natural vibe back here so not to take away from the setting overlooking the woods and lake.  We are pretty much finished with the exception of laying some additional sod and filling some gaps in my landscape. You can click here for more details on this project before and during. At some point I will do a full reveal of the pool area.
