Create four different looks using the same throw pillow

Create four different looks using the same throw pillow year round in multiple spaces throughout your home.

All pillows are not created equal, just ask the set of Chambray denim colored pillows in my house. I love these chambray pillows.  They are one of a few pillows in my house that get along with every other pillow. No fussing, no fighting. Just pure pillow harmony. Regardless of the room or the season they are so versatile  as you will see when I  show you how to create four different looks using the same throw pillow.

Welcome to this months Cozy Living Series.  Let’s face it, pillows equal cozy don’t they?  To me, they describe the personality of the room.  Pillows add such nice texture and color to any room and evoke that nice cozy feeling we want for our guests when they sit down. And as much as I love me some pillow covers, I also need to be smart with my choices and make sure that they can complement the other pillow covers that I have. I picked up these denim Chambray covers months ago from Home Goods. The intention was to use on the screen porch during Spring, but I soon realized how well they worked with so many other pillow covers that I had.  Today I am going to show you how I styled 4 different looks using those chambray pillows and hopefully provide some inspiration for your next pillow purchase.

Create four different looks using the same throw pillow

Idea 1

This is the current summer situation using the chambray pillows in my family room. I paired them with some patterned pillows in blues and red. The red pillow kinda reminds me of a bandanna. Although the blues are not all the same color,  they all work well together.

Idea 2

This next idea could also be a summer look. I replaced my euros that I usually have on the bed for the Chambray ones . A small orange pillow with pattern was used as well as an orange throw at the foot of the bed. I love how the chambray pillow picks up the blues in the orange pillow that would have been missed if it had been against another color.

Idea 3

This was the look in my den during the spring season.  It’s such a fun and fresh look.  I used the pink pillows from Christmas here and paired them with the Chambray ones. Again, not the same blues as the pillow, but look how well the various shades work together.  I also added a pink throw to balance everything out since I have blue in the carpet.

Idea 4

This is an idea that would be perfect for late Summer into Fall. I paired the Chambray up with some mustard colored accents in my screen porch.  For added texture I added the white fur pillow. The three colors give off a soft and simple Autumn vibe. One of my favorite decorating tips is when you are selecting accent pillows like the mustard color ones, look for coordinating throws as well. It can really give a cohesive feeling to your space. You can see how I decorated for fall last year in this space here.

Bonus Idea

Don’t freak when I mention Winter, but this look would be perfect. ( it was 92 degrees and I was sweating like a pig when I took this picture) Again, pairing the chambray with a print like the buffalo check provides a relaxed and cozy feeling to the space. I used a dark plum color and a coordinating throw to complete the look. You can see how I used this same color scheme ( without the chambray pillow) on my winter porch  here. It was one of my favorite color combinations.

Chambray Pillow Options

I have come to the realization that a Chambray pillow is like the little black dress that everyone should own. Don’t you think? It really provides the perfect anchor pillow to complement various colors and patterns. I couldn’t find the exact chambray pillow but did round up a few that are similar. ( affiliate links added)

  1. Can you ever have too many pillows? I don’t think so! 😉 I told my hubby that pillows are the grown woman’s version of stuffed animals. Love your pillow combinations! It’s always nice to have a few that work as a standard backdrop to other pillows in your home!
